Saw that in the BBC feed at the time, not sure if it's correct at that point.

Heh, if Arshavin had scored on that cross from Chamakh, that'd have been a funny goal. :)

    From Arsenal.com, Wenger said:

I thought the only positive was Meade. Very fluid movement and smart on the ball. Tiny little dude though. Reminded me of a young Cuntly.

Chamakh was awful on the ground. Had two balls played right through and messed up both. But good in the air. No surprise there really.

Coq is being exposed as a fairly limited player. But I am willing to give him a few more games.

So, all the 50-50s went as I predicted. Bayern topped their group, so did Juve and PSG. Added to the runner up lists are Shakhtar, Porto, and Valencia. A clear difference in class between those two groups.

Never mind Celtic and Galatasaray sneaking in as runners-up.

Wenger should have went for the win. Schalke slipped up and Arsene let his club down IMO.

I'm not singing. We have a team that's floundering in the league currently for various reasons, including the fact that key players are being over-used right now, and we're coming up on the most crowded part of the league schedule. I'm fine with Wenger worrying about the league at the expense of probably drawing a really tough team instead of just a moderately tough team in a match that won't even take place for another two and a half months.

It was the last CL match for the next 10 weeks. We had a healthy Rosicky coming back to start over Santi. Podolski also only played 65 mins combined in the last 2 games. Wenger could have gone through with it successfully, but he gave up hope. Gambled that Schalke would win anyway, and he lost that gamble.

I didn't see us winning this game, even with our A team. Not right now.

Yeah, sorry for leaving the obvious part unstated.

I did. Sure Arsenal are not in form at the moment (putting it lightly) but the 3-1 win against Piraeus was one of their best games of the season, and surely their most dominant display in the CL this year.

That game was at home, two months ago. We've hardly had a good game since.

Olympiakos played their 2nd string.... the 1st team had a real chance at clinching top spot.
    give me a break.

Doesn't matter. I stand by my comment that I understand Wenger's gamble/triage whatever you want to call it.

....or a realistic recognition of the current team's depth and abilities by someone who sees them in training every day.
