Another leg with simple challenges. Great scenery but disappointing challenges over both legs in Africa.
I didn't really get the whole argument. Didn't they discuss their "deal" before the leg? Nothing really changed between the start of the leg and the speed bump. Why did the army couple change their mind?
they said there was no need to. the other teams were far enough behind, they were in no danger. I took it as they just didn't want to play as cutthroat as the border guys.
What Ringo said. The Federal agents had the penalty to complete during the leg for finishing last in a non-elimination leg and started the leg over two hours behind the next to last team. There was no point in U turning them. The Border patrol's hard on for the federal agents got in the way of what was an objective decision.
I felt the first leg in Africa had really good challenges. They were very tied into the culture of the Maasai.
Has there ever been a cultural challenge where a judge held teams to such a strict standard of performance? I often wish they would, but I didn't really want it this time. Terrific challenge though - tough, appropriate, exhausting, and exacting. Good stuff.
Agreed, he was very strict. It was a real advantage that Rachel had having studied and taken dance classes. My heart went out to team Kentucky. That was both difficult and harsh given the temperatures.
i love bopper and mark. i love how their friendship is so freaking genuine, how bopper was so concerned about his buddy over anything. there is zero BS with them, just two people who are true friends. seriously, might love those two more than any other racers. call me a softy, but those two are my guys
they're on the mat now ..... please phil, don't eliminate them. don't do it c'mon phil (typing this as I watch it on my tivo). C'MON PHIL YES!!! They fight another day!!! i love these two guys!!
Culturally tied in sure, but still simple. That jumping for 2 minutes challenge was probably the easiest in Amazing Race history. Now, the first challenge in this leg was terrific. The second challenges could have been potentially made harder (have a time limit on the driving one, and not slack off on the cricket after a while) but still decent.
Great challenges all around, I thought. Don't agree that the judging was so harsh in the first challenge. Even his 12th attempt still wasn't that good, but they still let him go. BTW, why did Team Kentucky not have to do the detour? Normally I wouldn't have a problem with that given that every other team had already finished, but I have a problem with it in a non-elimination leg. I know they're nice guys but that's just rigging the competition in their favor.
IIRC, they briefly showed Team Kentucky doing the Clutch It route task (auto rickshaw driving school training course). The episode recap confirms that:
I'm sort of new to the show, would they have still been safe from elimination if they gave up on that one challenge and didn't complete the leg?
It would have given them a time penalty. I "believe" of 3 hours? Which still would have put them at the back.
They edit it to look like a close finish, they don't let you know how close it was though. Oh well, that's the game. 2 hour finale next week and the pilot finally get told to shut his f*cking mouth..!!!! Should be an er....interesting show.
Hoping that the final 2 legs will have some challenges that forces the teams to use their brain a bit. That's been missing from the Race for the past few years.
Given that teams found the simple gold souk challenge pretty hard a couple of years back, I wouldn't bet on it. Looks like this season is going to get a finale it deserves - people making mistakes even on the last leg.
has there every been a more unlikeable final four? I'm not rooting for any team to win as much as I'm rooting for which team I want to .... well what happened in the preview. is that a spoiler? I mean, I like the Army wife. and I like the Big Brother guy. their partners are idiots. Border Patrol are gigantic jackasses. And Team Ugly B***h .... who wants them to win?
