Not totally surprised that the tickets are that expensive, if you really want to see a hockey game when you're in NA I would look at the lower leagues. AHL tickets are cheap compared to NHL tickets, for example the closest AHL team to NYC (Bridgeport Sound Tigers) has tickets between $47 and $15 Link. From personal experience the AHL is pretty entertaining, and food/beer at the match doesn't cost a ton (its much less than any of the major leagues). You could also check out the FHL, which sell adult seats from $12.
Just makes you appreciate the Bundesliga more. Or our local ho0ckey league, entrance to our 2nd league team (Indians) is 11€ for students, a beer is 2€, food is also around 3 to 4.
Ever get to Minnesota, I will not only take you to a Wild game, but most certainly to a University of Minnesota college hockey game. The list ticket prices are pretty insane, but we have services like Stub Hub, which you can find tickets pretty dirt cheap close to the game day.
so, we find ourselves stuck in between "there's a sucker born everyday" and "you get what you pay for"
The Stanley Cup? No The Olympics? Not even close! Even better! U.S. Pond Hockey Championships are this weekend. http://www.uspondhockey.com/
Interesting article on Evan Kaufmann, who plays for Düsseldorf and Germany. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/19/s...indelible-crossroad.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1&hp On Feb. 10, Kaufmann finished dressing and skated onto the ice at a tournament in Belarus. With his initial shift, he became one of the few Jews to represent Germany in elite international sports since World War II, the first in ice hockey since the 1930s and perhaps the most visible to have had family members murdered in the Holocaust, according to sports historians and Jewish officials.
