I miss the days when America was synonymous with justice and not this bullshiit of the utmost selfishness of trying to keep others down at all cost. It was only a few years ago yet it seems so long ago already.

That begs the question of whether America* wants anything of the sort and also whether what you propose represents a practicable (to say nothing of sensible) means of "standing up to" a challenge.

*and that word should probably be in parenthesis, given that there's no such thing as a single, unified imperative that you can apply to "America".

China probably can survive when Venesula switched their shipment for China from America. Japan will get hurt mostly. But China will make sure US pay for its action dearly.

If you are true superpower, you just give a hint, someone will jump into action.
If you are weak superpower, you just give an order, someone will walk into action.
If you are no more a superpower, but still think you are, you have to give a beating to someone, and who may still not react to the action you want.

America has never treated other nations well. And while I am frequently agains that, you should be clear that the very reason nations exist is to treat people ouside them differently than people inside them.

There is nothing I would like more than a national discussion as to the future direction of this nation.

These evil doers think of self interest, and nothing else; not even the collective well being of all Americans. It will be glorious when the day comes to put these bastards to the test, and send them to Iraq or Afganistan.

What American foreign policy is inherited from Western Colonalism and Imperalism. Like Indians believe that US is democracy in the home but dictatorship aboard. But since many Americans are much isolation oriented (good for the world, they are not ambitious as Romans, Mongols, or British), few elites can play the moral superiority card. With name of freedom, democracy, and human rights, the policy is entirely serving the corporation especially big oil interests.

and that is because the majority lead miserable lives, in no hope situations, with no chance of ever bettering themselves.....the fcuks in charge want them to vent on the west or anything western....lest they turn their pent up frustrations on the mad mullahs/shieks/dictators who keep them in virtual servitude.....

Before America came out of the unilateralist closet several years ago, the world actually assumed America had higher aspirations than this petty selfishness you alluded to. We used to be the standard setter. But now whenever we utter the word justice or democracy it only sounds suspicious and alarming to other countries.

Hmmm ... so when do they get their "least bad" certificate and tin cup? Presumably not until the historical debate invited by your sweeping generalisation has been properly concluded?

Re: Iran Threatens U.S. With 'Harm and Pain'

When was this magical time? Do you know the history of the United States in places like Central America or the Philippines? How many dictators have we installed? Why did the nation have to wait until the Clinton administration to finally impose a democracy on another country (temporarily ignoring the many people who think imposing democracy is the act of a bully)?

The key part of your post is "the world actually assumed". It was all propaganda that was actually working. But it wasn't something that was going to last even if Bush the Lesser was never elected.

Of course it was propaganda. But it was doable propaganda and we had all the help we needed from around the world. Now we no longer have the luxury of that magic veil and it's apparent to everybody and to everybody's disappointment we're no more than just another two bit pirate.

The magic is gone. These days, I don't think students in Russia, China, South Korea, Iran or any other country for that matter would be protesting any time soon to demand American style democracy for their countries.

But the king makers are still going to be the same people. Let the new propaganda begin.
