Is this a FIFA friendly date? For the last two August 10th games (Brazil and Mexico) Dempsey and a bunch of the other starters have not played due to club commitments.

I hate to say it, but Chandler seems like a pipe dream at this point, damn it, I'm still mad.

I'd actually like to see Bedoya get a shot. I thought he showed some promise in the Gold Cup. He hasn't been called up since.

If Rangers terminate his contract, it should be interesting to see where he goes. He has always been a winger for the Yanks, but earned his payday as a central midfielder at Orebro.

Anyone who is posting a totally diff XI with no experienced player's, such as Donovan, Dempsey, Bradley. I'm sorry, but I can't take you seriously.

We are playing Mexico at Azteca, it's not in the US. You want player's to get experience then you bleed them in with older player's. You don't trot out a totally different backline who's never played together.

It's opportunity to beat Mexico in their fortress why do you want to play a U-23 team? Ridiculous.

Hmmm...this is an excellent point. What if he schedules it at the very end of August as another "tournament" style game?

He hasn't played much since due to injuries. Sorry, but until he plays, no call-up.

If that's the case, it's kinda poor timing. Right at the beginning of the European season, and I think right at the beginning of CCL? Plus, qualifiers three weeks later? Oy.

Yeah. We'll probablly see a pretty young squad. I expect mostly MLS or Mexican based players

There are a lot of Mexicans talking S on their forums, a lot of them don't even want this match to happen.

Just from my point of view, the timing and location is poor. It would have been nice to have seen this game at one of the many other Mexico stadiums, and secondly this game will be 4 days after the olympics so a lot of young prospects will most likely not play. End of August would have made more sense...

I hope not because if it's all MLS players it would be Deja Vu from the 09 GC final, but I doubt it since JK said he will always bring his best players.

I have an odd feeling it will be similar line-ups like those the U.S. and Mexico used against Venezuela this year

Did you expect any different? They view us as a giant waste of time right now (which in some sense for them, I have to admit is slightly accurate). Another reason I hope we win.

    For reference,...

Diskerud, Morales, Boyd, Guzan, Spector, Onyewu, Whitbread, Lichaj, Holden, Clark, Ream, Beasley, Gyau, and Wooten will all be in delicate situations with their club teams in preseason. You can possibly add: Dempsey, Bradley, Bedoya, Edu, Bocanegra, and Cameron if they move to a new club. Gonzalez will still be out. +Estrada & Salgado.

That makes Howard, Rimando, Meara, Hamid, Johnson, Cherundolo, Parkhurst, Loyd, Beitashour, Myers, De la Garza, Beltran, Alston, Goodson, John, Hines, Besler, Orozco, Parke, Marshall, Soares, Wynne, Brunner, Rusin, Johnson, Morrow, Sinovic, Castillo, Pearce, Lade, Beckerman, Jones, Larentowicz, Cronin, McCarty, Kitchen, Okugo, Shea, Pontius, Torres, Corona, Zusi, Kljestan, Feilhaber, Nguyen, Gatt, Evans, Davis, O' Brien, Gil, Rowe, Rogers, Gaven, D. Williams, Donovan, Wondolowski, Cooper, Adu, Cascio, DeLeon, Duka, Cruz, Altidore, Agudelo, Sapong, Bunbury, Lenhart, Bruin, Findley, Davies, and Buddle as the most available players for selection.

And there is also Timmy Chandler who is on the fence. I would also add Adam Henley who is not cap-tied and i would at least contact and Hirofumi Moriyasu & Gotoku Sakai. I at least want a statement saying these players aren't interested in pursuing the USMNT instead of assuming they don't.

Granted, some of the players in the first list will be called in but it should be taken into consideration when selecting.

Is the group of player that comes in for the Mexico game going to carry over and be the squad for Matchday 3/4, or is he going to have two different camps?

Pardon my ignorance, but dont the teams have to release the players during a FIFA date?

While I'd love to bring in a lot of newbies, I don't know if Azteca is the right place for it.

GK = 3. Guzan, Howard, Rimando
D = 6. Cherundolo, Goodson, Bocanegra; Lichaj, Cameron, Ream
    D/M = 3. Chandler, F. Johnson, Williams
M = 6. Bradley, Jones, Edu, Beasley, Feilhaber, Kljestan
    M/F = 2. Donovan, Dempsey
    F = 3. Gomez, Altidore, Agudelo

    Health issues: Holden, Gonzalez, Buddle
Borderline new blood: Boyd, Adu, Shea, Gatt, Diskerud, Whitbread, Pontius, Hines
Borderline old blood: Onyewu, Beckerman, Parkhurst, Wondo, Cooper, Spector

Yup. We'll have as close to our "A" team as Klinsmann can get.

You don't schedule a game at the Azteca, and then bring an inexperienced "B" team. That's a recipe for an epic disaster.

The 23 I'd call in (plus a spare in parentheses in case one of the guys at the position is injured or in a delicate club situation):

    Goalie: Howard, Guzan, Rimando (Kennedy)
    RB: Cherundolo, Lichaj (Myers)
    LB: Johnson, Castillo (Spector)
CB: Cameron, Ream, Bocanegra, Goodson (Gooch)
    6: Bradley, Edu (Beckerman)
    8: Torres, Jones (Mix)
    10: Gomez, Agudelo (Zusi)
    9: Altidore, Boyd (Wooten)
    Right Attacker: Donovan, Adu (Corona)
    Left Attacker: Dempsey, Shea (Beasley)
