I was mainly alluding to the fact that this season marks the 20th anniversary of the J.League, and consequently a lot of teams seem to have gone retro. If you look at Kashima and Consadole, they are also pretty close facsimiles of 1990s-era uniforms. And while the graphic I posted of the Jubilo 98 kit is pretty ugly, my memory of that kit in "real life" is very similar to this year's design.

And when you think about it, Sanfrecce's choice of purple plaid isnt THAT bad. After all, they might have gone for this one instead:

I really like the idea! For me Jef Chiba is the most successful of the rehashed kits.

I wonder if Cerezo will return to their mid-90s textured spam jersey

At Consadole, the sponsor's blue plate is really out of place and ruins the whole design. Couldn't they make it in plain white kanji?

I really liked the new JEF United one, but playing with yellow shirt, green shorts and red socks doesn't looks like a good combination to me...

Avispa certainly look to have gone a bit Serie A.

People seem to be saying that we aren't going to have a shirt front sponsor, which I'm not sure if I believe but would make a nice shirt even if it meant a lack of money coming in.

Avispa shirt is boss.

They have had an official launch now and I'm not so sure having seen the real thing. The SVOLME fabric wasn't great last season. The rumours about no shirt front sponsor appear to be correct, for the moment at least.

Interesting that they are pushing the Ushinohama shirt in the launch, I've heard a few people say that is the shirt they were getting even before seeing this.

The best for me was the 2010 shirt. And that occasional (???) black shirt with single pink stripe was godlike... I don't like too much this years one.

Definately true when coming to football.

Actually theres a lot of underestimated colours for football you'll find in Japan and nowhere else. I think that makes J-league unique and pink, purple, mintgreen etc. arent bad for football. J-League where clever in pressure the concept through..... Sanfrecce really originally wanted to pla in blue and white stripes as Mazda team, but got a no from J-League not being original enough.

Fascism! Only joking really, but seriously? Not letting a team choose its own colour? Wow.

Well actually it was aparently a strategy from J-League to brand the new peoduct of J-League strong with unique colours that was outstanding from each other.

But yes it was fascistoid that some clubs like Verdy, Marinos and Reysol from 1995 was allowed to play in the same jerseys as always while others as Sanfrecce werent.

Actually I heard another story once that aparently Sanfrecce had planned to have another name but J-League didnt like the name so they came up with Sanfrecce.

On fascistoid tendencies from J-League, ever wondered why Okayamas mascot Fagimaru dont exist on J-leagues official site? rumours are saying that J-League didnt like that theres too many bird mascots so Fagimaru wasnt recognized...... although I admit this is merely a steady rumour.
