Let's start it here. It was a pretty good thread last year. Sens for the Stanley Cup this year I say.

While my heart says the Devils (the neph is doing OK in Lowell) the brain says Buffalo. In the West, I see Calgary.
Sorry couldn't make the NYRB game Saturday night - last minute emergency forced a change in plans.....namely a Detroit Tigers victory party!

It's the year of the Duck.

Probably any one of a dozen teams can win it.

    I agree.
BTW - congrats to ChivasUSA. While I haven't been to SoCal in several years, I wonder if there is also a "Anglos for Chivas" club with membership other than Steven Cohen.

if the Sharks stay healthy and we don't have to play Edmonton in the playoffs ;) , it will be our year for sure. No doubts in my mind.

    LOL...LOL...LOL

Sitting down now to watch the Canucks-Oilers game while getting some work done. Should be a good one, up and down the ice. I love Swedish hockey players.

Anyone on here post on HFBoards?

I'm a Coyotes fan, and as much as I'd like to think we're gonna make the playoffs, we're shit and we know it.

I think the Ducks and Sabres are the teams to look out for this year.

The Sharks, while loaded with offensive talent, are still a bit weak on the defensive side. They don't scare me...yet. They need to prove they can score 5 goals and prevent the other team from scoring 6. Plus I hate it when a team has two good goalies. It never works and at some point either Nabokov or Toskala has to go.

But turn one of those goalies into a strong defensive player via a trade and the Sharks have as good a chance as anyone. Doug Wilson showed he has the teeth to pull a trade with Thornton last year.

How about Malkin? As a new Pens fan you must be pleased with his debut goal.

I should have known they would win 5-1 their next game after I made that comment.

Good win for the Quacks last night - beat a flying Wild team.

Sad to see just how BAD the Flyers are right now - that defense sucks. Still I am consoled by knowing how much Flyers fans are suffering :D

Schadenfreude - you have to love it.

    Big-
but I wonder if Claude Julien is next....
meanwhile I wonder how Bostabroons fans can take it- they haven't won the Cup since 72 - and when someone gets good, they deal them away. It's not gonna change, as long as Jacobs owns that sorry lot.

At this point rooting for the nonexistent Winnipeg NHL franchise is more appealing than rooting for the former Winnipeg NHL franchise..

Jesus Christ that Pens game last night was incredible. Anyone else watch the game on Vs?? I honestly think that last night's game was historic. Goals by an 18, 19 and 20 year old. All taken with one of the top 2 picks in the draft. The future began for the Pens last night. Staal is not going back to Juniors now. I loved the call on Vs with the announcer just in awe of the Malkin goal saying "Shades of Mario". It really was deja vu all over again.

Last nights game was a turning point for the future of the Pittsburgh Penguins. There's a buzz in Pittsburgh now, even more so than last year with Crosby on the team. This team will win a Stanley Cup within the next 5 years and I believe will be in Pittsburgh for the long haul. A stadium will be built and the team will not move to southern Ontario.

I didn't see that game but the Ducks Oilers game was on INHD1 last night (second best thing behind going to the rink). Have to say that while the Pens look great right now so too do the Ducks - they dismantled a good Edmonton side with Pronger having a fine game. They haven't lost a game in regulation this year.

Ed, if you want to do a hockey exchange sometime, let me know. I'll take you to the Pond and I'll come over and visit the Igloo :)
