This is a twitter prank or something right? I guess Marsch and Fire did beat Payne/DC in 98...

yeah, I have no idea right now. Hopefully there will be a clearer picture soon, rather than a bunch of people tweeting.

    Wait, let's think positive here.

If he's not the head coach, maybe he could be a head scout. Or, he could be an assistant GM to Payne.

Molinaro is also tweeting that it's not true.

So, the only ones reporting this are Canadian Soccer News? That's really only one step better than MLSRumours reporting it....

So TFC has said that Marsch has not been offered a contract. But they didn't deny that he was here for a job interview. I wonder if anyone asked...

I would think that if they were looking for a Mariner replacement, they would keep it quiet until it was a done deal. Because if they don't end up signing anyone and end up sticking with Mariner, they don't want to paint him as their backup plan

I'm speaking to your inference that we (Canadian Soccer News) are unprofessional And report rumors willy-nilly. Feel free to drag through the archives and compare how much we have got right versus wrong. Regardless, if you're going to bash us, do it in a way where you're standing behind your opinion with a real name and in a forum where it's not an accident it was found.

So you reported it, is Marsch really interviewing for the TFC coaching job?

using a real name. you mean like you're doing now?

This forum is what it is. It sounds like you are expecting it to be something else. People bash everything anonymously. If you can't take a little ribbing here and there, maybe you shouldn't be in the public eye. Besides, I bash Nigel Reid/Bob Iarusci/Cathal Kelly way more than CSN.

    Yay, Internet drama!

This thread was the first slagging of CSN I've read - FWIW. Comparisons to MLS Rumours - ouch.

Bicker if you must, but be civil about it.

Yeah ok, maybe the comparison was a bit harsh. But my point wasn't really about csn creating rumours willy nilly, it was more that this story only had one media source reporting it and all the others saying it didn't happen which in terms of reliability is like finding something on mls rumours. It was less a comment on the source and more about the number of sources. Plus, in my defense, I've always assumed that nobody here takes my posts all that seriously.

So does that mean you secretly support Mariner?

Sorry, I forgot I don't use my real name on here. This is Duane Rollins of 24thminute/ CSN. we vet our stuff far more than many credit us with...

Would it completely mess with your mind if I said yes? And that I think Logan Emory is the true franchise player around which TFC should be building it's squad?

I think at times we all forget we are talking about someone else's effort to produce the content - and it's easy to take potshots using an Internet nickname.
Thanks for your efforts Duane, most of us knew this already, though this information is not something we require of posters.

To be clear, BigSoccer's policy is to respect users anonymity - and breaches of this are taken seriously if a poster's identity is released without their permission.

Conversely, we enforce the terms of service to allow for discussion without character assassinations and other less than useful types of posting. It may not be perfect, but it has made for a decent level of discourse.

In this case, it's better if people would speak to the content rather than be dismissive solely based on the source.

    Cheers,

    Pete

Can I start the rumour that the Ikea Monkey was in town interviewing for a management position at TFC?

(and no, this is in no way a dig against any media source)

That's rubbish. Monkeys are far too evolved to work for MLSE.
