One, Marcel Schmelzer. Schmelzer and Götze are the only players from Dortmund's academy; Götze immediately joined the first team after the youth teams. The other players were signed from other clubs.
Of the top of my head, Schmelzer and Goetze. Sahin as well but he is obviously, not a Dortmund player anymore. Florian Kringe, officially still on the books also initiated his career with BvB - but he's on the outs. Grosskreuts also came from BvB II but spent a while with Rot Weis before coming back. Several other players that seem to have the potential of breaking into the 1st team that are with BvB II but are out on loan is Julian Koch (returned from loan), Lasse Sobiech, Marc Hornschu, Marco Stiepermann and Daniel Ginczek. Out of all these, aside from Koch, I think Boyd may have the best chance to see some BL 1. action.
Großkreutz joined Rot-Weiß Ahlen when he was 14 years old, and played there from 2002 to 2009. Götze never played for BVB II.
Wow. I find it impressive how this post can be parsed in many different ways and remain stunningly vacuous. Not easy to do.
Posted yesterday on his twitter, is he going to be on the bench for the first team this weekend? It was obviously after the olympic disaster...... "@steve_k83: @TBoyd91 Will you be in the squad tonight of BVB II ?" No, Im playing this weekend https://twitter.com/TBoyd91/status/184968481345781762]
Thanks for the clarification, I thought I read somewhere BVB II didn't have another game until Wednesday, guess not. Was hoping he would of made the bench.......
I imagine someone like Boyd would be completely off their radar, but it could be a potentially good buy for a smaller club like that. My thought process was that he's a youth player with virtually no first team experience at any level. Because of that I could possibly see them letting a youth player go for around a million euros. He does appear to be very talented but he's just buried behind a very deep striker rotation at Dortmund.
A million Euros would be a ridiculously huge sum. The highest known sum payed for a player in Boyd's league ever were 250.000 Euros (from the list of transfers at transfermarkt.de, so the number should be taken with a grain of salt - still it shows the tendency at least). ANY Bundesliga club, be it Bayern, Dortmund or Freiburg, would sell every single player on their reserve team for much, much less than a million Euros in a heartbeat. There is only one possible scenario in which they wouldn't: thay plan on getting that player into the first team. If Dortmund don't think Boyd will make it at their first team, they'd probably take a offer of 100k or even 50k Euros. Germany does not work like England when it comes to transfer fees.
Hmmm I find that very interesting. The entire set up seems to be drastically different in Germany than in England. If any club could get Boyd for 100k or less it'd be an absolute steal. I just can't see Dortmund letting him go for that much.
It might have something to do with the huge debts in England and the relative finacial stability (except for a few teams) in Germany.
The Dortmund youth system is actually not that special (apart from Mario Götze, and he skipped playing for BVB II altogether). What Dortmund is very good at is identifying talented young players from other clubs, convincing them to play for BVB and then doing very, very well indeed integrating them more or less directly into the senior team set- up. As to Boyd, I would image that he'll be pulled into the training camp next preseason, perhaps together with Marvin Ducksch (who is considered quite a prospect). Then it'll be up to him to convince Klopp. Also depends of course on what kind of striker(s) Dortmund get in the summer, since Barrios looks set to leave no matter what. I don't think he should go on a loan abroad, since such moves mean that a player usually wishes/is expected to leave permanently. And he's too young to give up on a career at Dortmund already. If nothing has changed after next season, he might start to think about it.
There is no market for lower division players in Germany. 3rd division clubs, on average, only pay about 25k Euros per year in transfer fees. Current 2. Bundesliga leaders Greuther Fürth have payed just about 1 million in transfer fees in total over the last 11 years (and note that during that time they spend 500k on a single player, so most of the time they spend nothing or next to nothing). The vast majority of reserve players will leave the club on free transfers. Borussia Dortmund have sold 5 players from their reserves for a combined sum of just 680k since 1992*. All other players left on free transfers (note: again the info is from transfermarkt.de, which tends to be incomplete, but the general trend should be clear again). A reserve player who is thought to be able to make it in the Bundesliga isn't sold before some games in the first team at the very least, and no club in Germany will pay for a player who didn't make it to the first team, since all the clubs who could use them will simply wait until their contract runs out and then try to sign them on free transfers. * Edit: I originally wrote one player, but that was the number of players they bought... damn carelessy glancing at lists
The Stuttgart-Dortmund game today will not have been good mentally for Boyd, seeing his club lose the lead and tie in the last few seconds of the game again in a 4-4 tie. (Highlight to reveal) Players with US connections Subotic, Ibisevic, and Sakai had solid games.
IMO Boyd should stay at Dortmund, or either loaned to a lower divison BL team or loan/move to the Netherlands. I'd be happy to see him do any of those things.
Dortmund reserves playing against Mainz reserves right now and are up 2-0. First goal by Marvin Ducksch who started and then was substituted for Boyd and 2nd goal by Boyd.71 minutes played so far.
Something needs to happen. I don't see him breaking into the first team any time soon. Surely they'll buy a couple of strikers in the summer. A loan would be the best option, I believe.
Just re-watched the El Salvador game, boy was that first goal a sweet finish. He definitely needs to work on his hold up play a bit but he really is a finisher. Gosh, I want to see him play some 1st team ball. I agree with usry723 a loan would probably be best for both parties.
Dortmund playing against Elversberg right now. Dortmund won the last game against Köln II with 4:2 at the weekend, Gladbach II lost and leader Lotte only drew. Boyd didn't score in that game, but Ducksch did. That means Dortmund is now a true contender for promotion to BL3! But in order to do that, they have to win against Elversberg today. Table: http://ergebnisdienst.fussball.de/t...utscher-fussball-bund/M89S1112W890053Atabelle (Lotte with 30 games, Dortmund 29 games) Interesting: Boyd sits on the bench and Ducksch starts. edit: And Ducksch just scored. 1-0 (17') edit2: And he scored again. 2-0 (27')
yes, 6 goals in the last 4 games. Will be interesting to see who will start in the crucial games in the next weeks (e.g. vs Gladbach II). Wagner seems to be rotating now.
