I didn't want to take Sporting Real's tread in a different direction by asking this in the Team Name thread.

Is the Brickyard Battalion pushing for green and black still even if the team name isn't racing? The site is predominantly red, white, and blue as is your city flag. I'm an outsider so I don't think my opinion counts for much but both MLS and NASL have so many red and blue teams I like green and black because it'd be unique.

    NASL
    Atlanta red and black
    Fort Lauderdale red and yellow
Ottawa looks like they'll use red
Virgina looks like they'll use red

    Carolina blue and orange
    Edmonton blue and black
    Minnesota blue and yellow
    Puerto Rico blue and orange

    Two teams do have green
    Tampa Bay green and yellow
    Cosmos will use green

    MLS
    Chicago red and blue
    Chivas red and blue
    Dallas red and blue
    New England red and blue
    New York red and blue

    DC red and black
    Portland red and white aways
Salt Lake red purple and yellow
    Toronto red and grey

    KC two shades of blue
    LA blue and yellow
    Montreal blue and white
    Philadelphia blue and gold
    San Jose blue and black
    Seattle blue and green
    Vancouver blue and white

    One team uses green
    Portland green and yellow homes

No team uses purple either. Classic purple teams...
Anderlecht, Fiorentina, Valladolid, Osnabrück, I'm sure there are a few others, but its a short list.

I like the colors of the flag, it looks pretty classy. Something like a PSG uniform would be very nice and fit in very well.

Green - Celtic (no hoops, makes fans look fat), St Etienne - two tone green hoops or stripes, looks really good. Werder Bremens green and white look classy as well.

The Brickyard Battalion still likes the black and white with green accents because it is not used in both the mls and the NASL. But it will probably be some variation of red white and blue

Thanks for the information, I was kind of thinking that's the way it was going to go. You do have one of the best city flags in the world so I can understand wanting to pay homage to it. That said I thought the green and black mockups looked classy and unique in both color and design. Can't say that I'm not a little disappointed but again it's not my team.

I can't speak for all of the BYB, but i know that the founders like the green and black. Just making sure I don't speak for the BYB as a whole

I'm on the fence I really like both sides but the PSG look would be very classy and cool. Although the mock ups I've seen from the BYB especially the art work of the monument circle crest looked awesome with green black and white.

As a kid in the early 70's I played on a team that wore Green and black vertical stripes with black shorts. Similar to Newcastle United.

I thought the kit looked great then and still think it would.

I voted for black and white, as in Newcastle and Juve. It references a checkered flag, and its fairly unique in North America. But I could live with green and black. It looks great on the scarves and it's also unique.

Green and black would be hideous. It's not an accident no one else uses it. I find it ironic that the BYB want a team name has to do with Indy, but they reject using the colors from Indy's flag just because other teams already use red and blue. If you want to be green to be different then be green, like the Celtics, Jets or Spartans, just no black, it's not a color and just makes everything look amateurish and cheap. I guess I just think looking good >>> looking different.

This looks awful because of the design not the colors.
This is a fine looking jersey.

green is thought as more of an accent to the black and white anyway. Personally I am ok with some variety of the flags colors, if used correctly.

I will admit, after seeing the colors of Indy's flag, I'm torn. (Feel kind of bad I didn't even know what it looked like until this year, but I grew up closer to Louisville anyway) The green, white and black already has some sweet mock ups, logo, and even a little history to it through the BYB. But if they were to use the city flag colors, even incorporate the flag into the logo, they could totally have a fly PSG look that I would be more then happy with, and would tie the team into the city even more.

Not to mention, the navy blue would also help tie the team in with the state as a whole. Now I'm thinking about the possibilities of tying the state and city flags into a sweet looking logo...New Thread! Mock ups, please!

But if they really want to go unique, go white, black and purple like Madrid. No team in the US does that

as an outsider... something like Croatia has done in the past would be pretty cool looking for Indy:

full on Checkers would be interesting too... but maybe a bit bit too harsh on the eyes:

Full props to the BYB for landing this team in Indy. If they want green/black... stripes, checkers, hoops, sash, polka-dots, whatever... I'm all in. (But I really like your checkers idea thomas!)

Oregon's closet of uniforms just furthers my argument.

The post that was referencing colors mentioned MLS, so I thought that was relevant.

On the indyprosoccer site one option was black crimson gold and white.

actually BYB originally tried Red White and Blue colors but opted for Green, Black and White for racing colors. You'll be hard pressed to find any Bricker that would reject the cities colors, but we have been Green, Black and White for 2 years now.
