Talk of dissolving sports authority

Interesting set of players on each side, but the figures who apparently want to keep it probably have an edge. Drayton McLain is a very heavy hitter in Republican circles here. Mayor White is probably the most popular politician in town right now. El Franco Lee is probably the most important African-American politician in Houston. Bob Eckels and Paul Bettancourt are key Harris County Republican figures, but if Lee is correct that Eckels doesn't have a majority on Commissioner's Court, then I'm not sure how he gets rid of the entity. Eckels didn't get to be the GOP King of Harris County by picking losing battles, but I'm not sure what he's trying to do here.

 

Or the reverse is also true in that the HSA goes out with a bang and gets the deal done with Garber, McNair and Reliant.
