Retired Marine Major General John J. Sheehan explains why he turned down a chance to become the White House Implementation Manager of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The three faceted solution space that he describes fits with information I've learned over the past several years from leading reputable news sources. It appears to me that the public ought to have an idea about what the right course to pursue should be, that the establishment knows, but this administration is unable or unwilling to execute it.

Congress can't take over; it doesn't have any tools except the blunt instrument of the budget. Either this administration totally changes the way it's doing business, or we wait until the next one takes power.

I don't see this one making any changes, so it's up to us to choose the next one. I wish we didn't have to wait so long.
