Is Harrison Kendall being red shirted for the Orange? He looks to be the only player that has not logged any minutes this seaon.

That appears to be the case barring injuries. D Skylar Thomas broke his ankle against Cincinnati and I think Nick Perea was injured last night but not sure how serious it is. Really stinks about Thomas as he was playing really well for the Orange.

Senior Louis Clark scored his first goal of the season in the 16th minute and rookie Alex Bono registered his seventh shoutout of the 2012 campaign, as the SU men's soccer team (10-4-0, 3-2-0 BIG EAST) defeated Red Division foe USF, 1-0, on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Corbett Soccer Stadium.

"It was an excellent performance on the road tonight," said SU head coach Ian McIntyre. "Whenever you go on the road in the BIG EAST and pick up a win, you show a true resilience and toughness. We showed that across the board and were able to win in a tough environment."

A closely contested affair, the match remained scoreless until Clark scored off an assist from Stefanos Stamoulacatos in the 16th minute.

McIntyre getting it done as he has before at Hartwick and Oneonta. Gets the right players to play the right way and no slouch when it comes to academics either.

    one of the
Great coach by all accounts from the long list of Jim Lennox disciples. I wonder what they are thinking right now about the state of the Hartwick program

A good man and a good coach. Paid his dues, and then some, saving Hartwick and will do a good job as well in the ACC.

McIntyre struggled mightily first season at 'Cuse. Turned things around in a hurry this year...about 2 years ahead of schedule. Still, have to wait and see if the all-important NCAA bid occurs this season or next. Killer schedule and many pretenders to the crown.

Senior Lars Muller broke a scoreless tie in the 68th minute to lead the SU men's soccer team (11-4-0, 4-2-0 BIG EAST) to a 2-0 victory against Villanova (10-3-2, 2-1-2 BIG EAST) on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at the Villanova Soccer Complex. The four conference victories mark the most in a season for the Orange since 2008.

"It was a fantastic result on the road," said SU head coach Ian McIntyre. "It was a real test to come to an undefeated team like Villanova in the BIG EAST. However, the guys followed the game plan and we came out worthy winners."

The match was evenly played in the first half. SU was aggressive early, registering the game's first three shots in the opening 10 minutes. However, Villanova responded, as both teams traded opportunities throughout the first period.

So I see this freshmen Jordan Vale is having a good season for the Orange. Starts in all 15 games, leads the team in points with 7 goals and 1 assist. His bio does not say much more than his run with the New Zealand 17s. Anyone know much about him?

Is it odd that when doing some research (google) about him an "all expenses paid trial" with EPL's Birmingham comes up?

They started the turn around with two former TFC academy Canadian center backs - Murrell and Thomas. They would be wise to add more former TFC academy players to advance further.

Redshirt freshman Tyler Hilliard and freshman Jordan Vale each scored a goal in the first half, as the SU men's soccer team (12-4-0, 5-2-0 BIG EAST) defeated DePaul, 2-0, on Saturday, Oct. 20 at the SU Soccer Stadium. The five conference victories is the most for the program since 1999, while the triumph also gives SU its most overall wins in a season since the 1988 campaign.

"I'm so proud of the guys," said SU head coach Ian McIntyre. "We have played three very tough games this week with two very emotional games on the road. The character, resolve and resilience were certainly there."

Syracuse captured an early advantage when Jordan Murrell sent a free kick into the box, which was headed by Hilliard to the far post for his first career goal.

Following its 2-0 victory against DePaul on Saturday, the SU men's soccer team (12-4-0, 5-2-0 BIG EAST) has clinched a berth to the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time since 2005. The Orange earned a spot in the tournament's quarterfinal round, when it will host its first postseason match in program history on Saturday, Nov. 3.

SU will compete in the BIG EAST Tournament for the 14th time. The Orange won the championship in 1982, when it claimed the inaugural BIG EAST Tournament title. Syracuse last appeared in the quarterfinal round in 1999.

Rookie goalie from Baldwinsville causes buzz for Syracuse men's soccer team

The moment Alex Bono signed his letter of intent to play at Syracuse in the fall, Coach Ian McIntyre and his staff knew they had their goalie for the next four years.

Bono, of Baldwinsville, was the top-ranked goalkeeper in New York state, and the sixth-best goalie prospect in the country. Voted team captain of his high school team, Bono led the Baldwinsville Bees to four Section III titles and two regional titles with a 0.65 goals against average and an .885 save percentage.

Canadians played a big part at Hartwick back in Jim Lennox' day. They were technically superior and savvy (Mike LaPointe for example), and they were unselfish on the pitch.
McIntyre must know from his own experience that you get a different type of player when you go abroad, whether it be Canada, New Zealand or England.
These players were not raised in the stupidity of American youth soccer. There is less ego, less baggage, less maintenance, less headache...of course, winning solves everything (for the time being).
    Keep it up Macca!

Skylar Thomas and Jordan Murrell. If Syracause's head coach doesn't beg every single TFC academy grad to join the program he is a moron.

I am all for getting high quality players to come to Syracuse but to call Coach Mac a moron is just plain off. I believe he has done quite well recently with recruiting.

Syracuse Earns NCAA Berth, Faces Cornell in Opening Round

For the second time in school history, and the first time since 1984, the SU men's soccer team (12-6-0) has earned a berth in the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship. The Orange will face Ivy League champion Cornell (15-1-0) on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. at Berman Field in Ithaca.

Syracuse is one of a record eight BIG EAST teams to make the 48-team field, which was announced Monday night on NCAA.com. The Orange earned an at-large invitation following a 12-win regular season (the most victories for the team since 1988) and an appearance in the conference tournament quarterfinals. Cornell received one of the tournament's 22 automatic bids by virtue of winning the Ivy League title.

That Cornell-Syracuse game is going to be fascinating. Cornell's attack is very legit. Big test - but a great season no matter what.
