Well there you go..... http://www.smh.com.au/news/news/sydney-ranked-top-city-in-tourist-poll/2007/10/11/1191696060150.html
I was there 3 years ago and disliked it so much I changed all my flights around to get out after just 4 days! As far as Australia goes I would put Perth top of the pile, really enjoyed my time there.
well i dont know who wrote this shit, but sydney isnt anything special. Sure its a half decent tourist city, nice beaches.... a few sights to see... But its a shit hole to live in...its nothing special, just incredibly over rated. melbourne is the best city to live in in australia, although it doesnt have that many "tourist" sites. as for the others on the list; i have only been to florence and venice. florence was alright, certainly worth visiting. Venice on the other hand...what a shit hole. Easily the worst city i went to in europe, and i have spoken to several people who agreed, it stinks, there are pidgeons everywhere, its expensive, and just borring.
Melbourne is defiently the best city to live in, sydney though is alot better tourist rise the cbd is better then ours although our casino is by far the best in the country, they have our number in most other things.
Found this blog- twas some funny bits........ http://blogs.smh.com.au/newsblog/archives/dom_knight/017442.html
Not to dig Sydney, but was at Australia a winter ago (their summer) - in Melbourne - and liked the area so much, never did go to Sydney.
Sydney is the only city in Australia that really compares to London/ New York etc. Especially in that it's a great place to visit - but you wouldn't want to live there. To Visit: Sydney . Melbourne . . Perth Brisbane . . . Adelaide To Live: Brisbane Perth . . . Melbourne . Sydney . . . Adelaide
sydney will own melbourne because they have the harbour bridge and the opera house, two main tourist sites, there i admit it, but melbourne better for sport, and shopping.
Didn't miss much. If you've been to San Francisco (minus the up hill walks and crappy western suburban area's) you've been to Sydney.
Lifestyle? You mean the fact you have to pack a jumper & a rain coat even when you walk out the door in a t-shirt on a sunny 25 deg day, because you know it will snow and then rain a few hours later!
Melbourne now has more Tourism then Sydney and we are already the most livable city, so i guess were the best city in Australia.
Just got back from Sydney....had a GREAT time there and was surprised by it actually. Im from San Francisco originally and Sydney reminded me of it greatly. Thought it was actually a pretty friendly place too. Had my Harry's Meat pie while talking to some of the friendly locals, cruised by Russell Crowes condo layout, bought some weed from a festy from an alley located in The Cross and had some damn good Chinese and Korean food downtown. Also went to Jiu Jius for some good sushi. Then off to the Blue Mountains to visit the sisters. Not sure what some of you are complaining about or if this is just sarcasm. Enjoyed Sydney immensely.
And hats off to your customs at Sydney International.... Got thoroughly frisked for being from Honolulu and staying for just 4 days or so. I respected the Aussie fierce pride more than anything else and its endeavor to protect its people. You dont see this very often in very many countries. You have good government.
Good to hear- I'm proud of my city- and its great to have good feedback! How was the weather- I think it was hot last week- its a lot cooler this week though!
Weather was odd....hot sun but brisk air if that makes sense. Very San Francisco like. I was very comfortable. Im sure if I had mentioned I was from the big Island, I would have the labradors on me for sure.
I actually snuck some 420 through. Thats Whats stupid. I emptied a few marlboros, refilled them, then capped them with tobacco. They looked good. But oh how stupid. Never again. Someone had told me how strict Aussie customs were but I didnt listen. Almost cost me. Believe me... I was freaking. Better off just heading to the cross.
Damn- I could've almost laughed at you on Border Security! http://au.tv.yahoo.com/b/border-security/1/show-information
