said to be bad news and really urgent info as they announce it the day before the Zurich match.

maybe Heusler is leaving or Oeri or Fink

BASEL, Switzerland (AP)—One of the few women running a top-tier European football club says she is stepping down this year for health reasons.

FC Basel President Gisela Oeri, popularly known as “Gigi,” is a philanthropist who invested millions of Swiss francs (dollars) in the club since joining the board of directors in 1999.

Oeri’s leadership will end in December after Basel competes again in the Champions League group stage.

She will be succeeded by vice president Bernhard Heusler.

Switzerland has been warned that it must enforce FIFA statutes after first division Sion were allowed to field their new signings at the weekend despite being subject to a transfer ban.
Now CC might put in jeopardy the entire Swiss League and the NT. Great.

The Bern derby should be good. LS and Sion should be a fun one as well. But Servette and GCZ, that just fees right to say.

Xamax now only one point behind Zürich and Basel before receiving Lausanne and GC. Caparros has only practised defensive movements so far with three clean sheets in a row now. After the next match and the NT break, he is going to reduce the training intensity. They have been training twice a day so far. And he yet wants two players. Once the team is in place, Xamax could have good cards to be a serious opponent for YB, Basel and Zürich especially as the others have been struggling as well.

bad defeat for Servette, but they had suffered physically vs Xamax the match before. Hopefully Roderick joins Servette. We need more stability in defense.

Servette with a huge win over Sion. FCZ defeated YB in a most bizarre fashion. YB up 2-1 with about 10 min to go at home, they then let in an own goal and then a final goal.

    1. Luzern 7 +7 15

Not a surprise. I wonder with him possible leaving, what happens to the big money players that he brought in? Does Xamax go into 2nd interregional league?

probable...he said he would give the club for 0 CHF to the city of Neuchâtel. in this chase the city would chose a task force to save the club.

now, there are several open payments for the stadium (belongs to the city), for the youth section (well, that's themselves) and maybe the August salaries of the players have not been paid yet.

maybe, financially, it wouldn't be impossible for the people in the region to save Xamax. But already over the last few years it took 30 people who all spent a certain amount. the people in Neuch all are open to go to a good football match from time to time, but there are not so many fanatic people in the region. if the spectacle is good tough, the whole region can identify itself with the club.

now, the expenditure with some of the new players salaries and staff is certainly much higher. so I could imagine Xamax surviving if Chagaev stays till the winter break and then gives the club for free to the city. Because then, Xamax could sell the players with the highest salaries during the transfer period and get good substitutes for much less money. Or if Chagaev pays the August salaries and leaves at the beginning of September, they maybe might survive.

the city of Neuchatel could be tolerant with regards to the stadium rent.

I think they have a chance of not going down between 5 and 50 percent depending on when Chagaev is leaving and how many open bills he'll be leaving behind. He also had open bills in Grozny. Now, imagine him leaving in the middle of October with lots of open bills left to pay...

Stade Rennais announced Celtic as opponent in the Europa league, UEFA assured Celtic they can prepare the Europa league and the Madrid trip, everybody expected UEFA to exclude Sion the day before yesterday, but nothing happened on Tuesday

It's simply because they can't go against the decision of the court in Martigny. And the final decision of the court in Martigny is subject to a 20day waiting period and after the latest developments I would not expect the judge to change his mind anyway

So, UEFA and FIFA apparently are thinking about excluding Sion for the 2012/13 season.

Stade Rennais has put Sion in their list of fixtures on their website now...

Xamax has a new coaching staff:
Victor Muñoz (54) will be the new trainer.
Thomas Christiansen (38) will assist him.
Manuel Lapuente (41) will be in charge of conditioning.

Xamax has about 3.2 mio unpaid bills for which different parties have gone to court. If Chagaev doesn't pay, Xamax is going to bankruptcy. well, nothing unexpected

and Chagaev apparently does not have the money to pay

Surprise, surprise ... Promise everything and all Xamax gets is its name in the international press, albeit in a negative manner, and a quick relagation to the 2nd Interregional league. I wonder how long it will take them to climb back up.

    Mid-week matches:

    September 21
    19:45 Basel ? - ? Lausanne Sports
    19:45 Young Boys Bern ? - ? Neuchatel Xamax
    19:45 Zurich ? - ? Thun

    19:45 Sion ? - ? Grasshoppers

The league says it is “clearly established” that Lausanne Sports forward Matt Moussilou punched Servette defender Vincent Ruefli in the face.

Witnesses reported that Moussilou was boarding his team bus when he saw Ruefli and demanded an explanation for slurs about his race and family.

If true, Ruefli should also face a ban. I am not sure how one can prove it.

Rueflis wife is black and most of his friends are black... he is more african himself than Swiss, so you can be sure it's not true

    tough, he likes to provocate

Thierno Bah (Lausanne, formerly Servette) who separated Moussilou from Ruefli was the witness in the case. He also said that Moussilou has accusated the 'wrong' person
