March 31 FT Grasshoppers 0 - 2 Sion FT Thun 2 - 3 Basel April 1 FT Lausanne Sports 3 - 1 Servette FT Zurich 2 - 2 Young Boys Bern April 4 18:30 Lausanne Sports ? - ? Basel Servette lets LS score for the first time in 2012 in their loss. I think that Servette does not really have a chance for the Europa League spot. YB and FCZ with a very entertaining match. Basel further distances themselves. They could play their U23 team from here to the end of the season and still win. 1. Basel 25 +32 55 2. Luzern 26 +10 41 3. YB 26 +12 39 4. Thun 26 -2 34 5. Servette 26 -10 34 6. Zürich 26 +1 31 7. GC 26 -25 23 8. Lausanne-Sport 25 -30 17 9. Sion* 26 +12 9 10. NE Xamax** 18 0 26
Servette plays Thun next, so this will be a very important match with regards to 4th place... of course, Zurich is stronger... but if Basel wins the cup, 4th position is sufficient for an Euroleague spot and with a new management lot of things could move for the better at Servette...
April 7 17:45 Lucerne ? - ? Basel 17:45 Sion ? - ? Zurich April 9 16:00 Servette ? - ? Thun 16:00 Young Boys Bern ? - ? Lausanne Sports Servette-Thun is a very big one. Luzern-Basel as well. Actually all 4 matches this weekend have implications. If Basel wins, they move 19/20 points ahead of Luzern or YB. There are only 24 more points that Luzern can gain. If Basel were to win this weekend (they have a 20 match unbeaten streak) they will need only 1 more point the rest of the season. 1. Basel 26 +34 58 2. Luzern 26 +10 41 3. YB 26 +12 39 4. Thun 26 -2 34 5. Servette 26 -10 34 6. Zürich 26 +1 31 7. GC 26 -25 23 8. Lausanne-Sport 26 -32 17 9. Sion* 26 +12 9 10. NE Xamax** 18 0 26
Luzern has made it clear that the lead that Basel has is too much, and they are focusing on 2nd place in the championship. They also want to win the Swiss Cup. The team took in the AC Milan - Barca match last week.
April 7 FT Lucerne 1 - 1 Basel FT Sion 2 - 1 Zurich Luzern with a 1-1 draw. Sion closes to within 5 points of LS. April 9 16:00 Servette ? - ? Thun 16:00 Young Boys Bern ? - ? Lausanne Sports
even if Sion catches Lausanne before round 15, it's not over round 10: Sion: already played YB-Lausanne (count 0 points for Lausanne-so still 5 points) round 11: Lausanne-Thun Servette-Sion (difficult guess, still 5 points?) round 12: Sion-Basel Zurich-Lausanne (difficult as well, maybe 4 points) round 13: Basel-Lausanne Thun-Sion (well, overall Sion should have gotten closer by now, maybe 1 to 2 points now) round 14: Lausanne-Sion (let's be neutral and say a draw) round 15: Sion-GC Servette-Lausanne (now, Sion has to take the lead) round 16: Lucerne-Lausanne Sion: no match (Lausanne won't come back here) round 17: YB-Sion Lausanne: no match (difficult one for Sion) round 18: Lausanne-GC Sion-Lucerne (maybe, still a little chance for Lausanne)
Both ASL matches streamed today: Young Boys Bern - FC Lausanne Sports http://lsh.lshunter.tv/static/popups/9025202577210.html Thun - Servette sh.lshunter.tv/static/popups/9025302577180.html
or also here for Servette, but not sure whether it is working abroad http://atdhenet.tv/45741/watch-servette-vs-thun dunno why they openend the south stand today
Esteban has really played well so far in this match. He has added pace and guile. Servette looks much more dangerous.
Thun 2-0. After a very nice run and work along the right flank, a great shot from the top of the area. No chance for Gonzalez. 77'. Too bad because there is a really good crowd at the Stade de Geneve today. Servette had been pushing for the equalizer, and got caught.
In case you missed Shaqiri's goal here it is: http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/soccer-dirty-tackle/archive/2.html April 9 FT Servette 0 - 2 Thun FT Young Boys Bern 1 - 3 Lausanne Sports 1. Basel 27 +34 59 2. Luzern 27 +10 42 3. YB 27 +10 39 4. Thun 27 0 37 5. Servette 27 -12 34 6. Zürich 27 0 31 7. GC 26 -25 23 8. Lausanne-Sport 27 -30 20 9. Sion* 27 +13 12 10. NE Xamax** 18 0 26 One has to wonder if both Sion and LS will catch GCZ.
media are creating doubts about Gross' future at YB - he almost has to win vs GC then, GC might getting in trouble as they're only 3 points clear of Lausanne. Lausanne won twice in a row and Sion is on a winning streak. GC has one more match left than the others, but playing away at YB and Thun, then vs Lucerne and Servette at home, away at Sion and Basel, then vs Zurich and finally away at Lausanne. It's possible GC is losing their away matches at YB, Thun, Sion and Basel and their home matches vs Lucerne and Zurich which is not really a home match. Then, there is only the home match vs Servette and the away match vs Lausanne left. So, Lausanne could have a chance to pass Servette in the last round... GC is lucky that Xamax is relegated and Sion has the penalty... but still Lausanne vs GC in the last round could become decisive if Sion continues winning or if GC only wins 2 points till the end of the season, let's say a draw vs Servette and a draw vs Zurich or Thun. This would give them 25 points. Lausanne in this scenario would win vs GC at home in the last round and they could have another two draws. Let's say vs Thun and Sion at home or away at Servette. This would give them 25 points as well. Sion could win another 13 points till the end of the season including a victory vs GC and a draw or victory vs Lausanne and end up at 25 points as well. of course, 3 teams with 26 points could be possible as well. in this case, the goal average is in favor of Sion in front of either Lausanne or GC
I don't have to wonder, I am convinced they will! I was predicting relegation for GC before they sold Emergara and I have seen nothing all season to change my mind. The Sion and Xamax penalties have done nothing other than paper over the cracks so that their delusional fans cannot see that the club is in a terminal decline. LL
I know that FCSG would beat them, but do they have enough to defeat either Bellinzona, Aarau, Winterthur or Lugano?
vs Aarau, Winterthur or Lugano the question would be whether GC's defense is up to the task. Bürki yes, but the defenders? vs Bellinzona, Hakan could make the difference the only GC players convincing lately are Bürki and De Ridder. Of course, there was Emeghara before he left. Zuber, Hajrovic, Feltscher, Mustafi, Toko, Lang have are all young and have played more or less ok... Kehl, Xhaka, Bauer are also young and only played few lately Bertucci was really disappointing, Smiljanic injured half of the time and not influent enough when he played, Callà and Cabanas were injured most of the time well. the 5 or 6 players who should be leaders have not played often and not good enough... the 15 youngsters they have are really talented, but you can't stay in Superleague with a U-21 team. That's why U-21 teams play in 1st league or 2nd league
Do not forget Adill who is injured this spring, but is way below the U21 line. My assessment would be similar, they went cheap (young) and are paying the price. I wonder what GCZ fans would do if their team was relegated because of on the field issues, not off the field ones. Who was the last of the big clubs to be relegated for on field play?
April 14 17:45 Lausanne Sports ? - ? Thun 17:45 Young Boys Bern ? - ? Grasshoppers April 15 16:00 Servette ? - ? Sion 16:00 Zurich ? - ? Lucerne Servette needs to get out of its slump, but Sion will be quite upset to see their Europa Leagues hopes dashed. Servette has done well against Sion, but they are in a very bad run at the moment. YB should handle GCZ, but they should have handled LS. Can LS keep their good run going with a victory vs Thun? That match could see them draw level with GCZ.
