FWIW, when Frank signs a pre-contract to play in MLS after the year, I will maintain this thread on the galaxy boards, buy a Supah G's jersey and cry salt tears on it. I really hope that the minds running the club are open though. stupid we haven't secured an extension already
"Lampard has averaged a goal every 116 minutes and 53 seconds this season, the best minutes-per-goal ratio of any midfielder in the Premier League. Needing an average of only 3.5 shots for every goal, his conversion rate is better than even that of Manchester United superstar striker Robin van Persie and seems good enough to warrant a new contract." http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11662/8455468/Bargain-shopping
With the shite the BoD has pulled on us this year, they'd have a riot on their hands if they don't offer Supah a new contract. I said it earlier in this thread, but it's worth repeating. He is the best box to box midfielder of an entire generation, and I don't mean best English, I mean best. We'd be mad to let Frankie go. Unfortunately, I think us mad.
Just watching his winning goal against Brazil tonight tells you all you need to know about the fella. The degree of improvisation on that is outstanding.
tied for Platt with 27 goals now someone on the England board made a great comment that if a Brazilian would have scored that goal that the commentators would have carried on for hours about how inventive and creative that was and what a wonderful goal it was
Bit hard to tell but I'd say his usual, centre midfield. Maybe a bit further forward but not greatly.
He's absolutely right: Year | Apps | Goals | Assists 2004–05 | 58 | 19 | 19 2005–06 | 50 | 20 | 12 2006–07 | 62 | 21 | 16 2007–08 | 40 | 20| 11 2008–09 | 57 | 20 | 21 2009–10 | 51 | 27 | 20 2010–11 | 32 | 13 | 6 2011–12 | 49 | 16 | 10 2012–13 | 29 | 11 | 2
But remember those passes now are deflecting off Torres over the goal, around the goal or to the other team
It does make you wonder where he'll go if he leaves, doesn't it. Personally I'd like to see MLS get a glimpse of the guy so they can see just how good the fella is. Apart from anything that also means he won't go to one of our rivals which is a HUGE plus in my book. If he did go to MLS I think he'd also be a great influence on some of their young lads in his way of training and work-rate he puts in off the pitch which is exemplary by all accounts.
Hey, I'm not saying I WANT him to go there. I just don't want him scoring for one of our European rivals or, GOD FORBID, against us.
We'll take him at the HDC, but it would be a bitter sweet move. With his football iq, he'll still be scoring goals somewhere when he's in his forties, if he decides he still wants to play then.
Taking my Sporting shirt off for a minute: Seattle should go after him. They've got a relationship with Chelsea, and he could be valuable to them (Hell, he'd be valuable at any club).
yeah just too early to step down a level on present form would be a crime to simply the The Game of Football; if we insist on being utter insane idiots (and effing damn it we have quite that track record ) I hope he spends another couple years at a CL Club, preferably not in England, though we deserve what we get for being idiots if he joins ManU or Arse, and you could not blame him if we left him no choice Two or three years down road he can have a farewell of the states, seeing how Schlectto did at that age and as well in a shape that Supah won't see for a few decades if at all, KDB is right he can score goals into his 40's and certainly star for an MLS team in is late late 30's
Galaxy seem to have a beat on him if he goes to the MLS, though i really do think Seattle could use him. that being said, it sounds like Man U would be a very real possibility. how devastating would that be?
