When you need a goal and you bring on a player who didn't score a league goal all of last season or an assist and he replaces a striker, you know the manager is screwed.

Suarez gets an easy goal thanks to Sterling's brilliance.

Gerrard almost immediately gives it back with a failed Hollywood pass and then just decides to switch off on defense.

And whoa Allen with a misplaced pass

Seriously, why does anyone pass to Kelly? He has 0 offensive talent. Are you trying to lose possession?

Great attempt by Shelvey, rebound to Suarez but that's impossible to get that header down.

Had the chances, should have won.
I'm a bit put off by the fact that we seem to have a 30 yard gap in the center of the field between allen/gerrard and the front three. Shelvey just wasn't able to credibly appear in the that hole and link play today.
    Sterling MOTM.
Johnson second best today, would have been my motm if he hadn't had that defensive lapse that led to the sunderland goal.
    Allen was poor today.
Borini looked better playing through the middle.

Going to get nerdy for a second, the computer Im posting this from (I have two side by side) is my testbed machine for Windows 8, and in its sports app I have Liverpool listed as a favorite team. This was in the Liverpool specific feed.

Ferguson said Friday he hoped both sets of supporters would "draw a line in the sand" in their heated rivalry, which has featured United fans taunting Liverpool over Hillsborough while some Liverpool followers have mocked the 1958 Munich air crash which claimed the lives of eight United players.

However, minutes into the Wigan game, large sections of United fans were chanting anti-Liverpool songs, one of which included the refrain: "It's never your fault. You're always the victims, it's never your fault."

United fans took to social media later to claim that chant was specifically directed at Liverpool striker Luis Suarez and his much-publicised race row with United defender Patrice Evra last season.

However, the timing of the fans' response, days after the Hillsborough report was published, made such an excuse ring hollow.
