think its that time of the year again where we can discuss incoming and out going transfers. ooijer is deffinatly gone with the axe likely to follow. rumours of amir zaki the wigan striker coming in but i have info that we have targeted some one a lot better than him so more news later.

Zaki would be a decent signing. I can't see Bruce wanting rid, though.

Derbs could be returning to Olympiakos. He's done alright there.

Now that Sparky seems to have lost interest in Rocky, will he be staying?

As far as players coming in go, I think we need to wait until Monday, when we'll know who's gone down. Newcastle will become the new ASDA, I'm sure. I can't see Owen, Duff, Martins etc playing in the Championship next season. Likewise, if Boro go down, I can't see players like Tuncay Sanli staying at the riverside. We need to pounce on these opportunities sharpish, before other clubs do.

I think we've declared we're not interested in Zaki, when his loan at Wigan ends. I've heard we've got someone good lined up too but don't know who. Not sure I like Zaki's temperament either, he'd be another shop window player I think.

I think it all relies on someone triggering the release clause in Santa's contract, then we can spend the cash.

It'll be very interesting to see what happens if Newcastle go down. Who'd you have from there though? Owen, Martins or Duff? But only on a pay as you play deal ... maybe.

What about Bnets? Who'd have him back? Apparently Harry wants rid, not sure how much for though.

Last thought from me, I really hope we sign Givet permanently, he's been a real find.

I can't think of many players who WOULDN'T treat our club as a shop window, unfortunately.

I'd have Bentley back in a heartbeat. Sure, he'd eventually sod off to another "more ambitious" club, but he'd bang in a couple of beauties for us while he's at it.

Givet has been good. I agree with keeping him. We still need more defenders, though. We need to strengthen our entire squad, but I'd start with the defence, if I ruled the world.

Sorry guys, Zaki can go elsewhere. With his antics after the last international break, I wouldn't want him. when you play for a club, they are your bread and butter. If you get hurt on int'l duty, you pick up the phone and call. It's all about attitude and commitment and I don't think it's there.

I'd take Bentley back in a minute, but at a reasonalbe price. I wouldn't say no to Pennant if Bents can't be had. He's the kind of player B.S has made his reputation on (turning players careers around). We've needed better width and depth on the right since Bents left, and I'd make that a priority, right after replacing Oojer. Also have to consider the depth in the center of mid-field with Tugay's retirement (Butt?). I'll have to defer any of the reserves and academy kids to those with better knowledge as they're hard to follow out here. Then we'd have to think about replacing Roque once his future is decided. Martins?

I think Derbyshire may stay in Greece, and Olympiakos would pay handsomely to keep him, much as I'd like him back.

Just how old is Obafemi Martins, anyway?

He seems to have been around for like fifteen years, yet he's still in his twenties.

Anyone heard an rumours about Warnock leaving for big money if and when we sign Givet?

To be honest Givet's been excellent so it wouldn't be too bad, all depends on who else we can get for the money.

Anyhow, as well as Martins how about

    Tuncay
Duff (only on pay as you play)
Nolan, Big Sam must be after him.

That's about all I can think of from them

To be fair, that's true of Owen too.

Wikipedia have Martins @ 25 years old this coming October.

I don't think I'd say no to Steven Taylor or Coloccini to take Oojer's spot. Might throw in David Wheater from 'Boro as he's been in the national team camp before. If Fabio likes him, that's good enough for me. I also have been partial to Alan Smith (other than injuries). He's the all hustle type of player that I've always liked.

You kids have a great manager. I respect him alot and I'm sure he'll build this team into something great.

Sam has a good relationship with Tal Ben Haim and I think he'll bring him to the rovers. Tal played for him at Bolton and wants to play for him again, Sam I think will eventually bring him.

I hope a big sign will come to the rovers. Maybe someone like ryan babel or better.

    good luck next year.

i have heard zurab is on his way which means we might not sell warnock. its going to be an interesting summer with sam clearing out a lot of dead wood and adding quality to the squad with a lot younger players. our squad is aging at the moment so this needs to be done for us to push on. but some of sams targets if we can get them excites me. givet is done by the way but nothing will be announced yet.

That would make sense. 3.5 mil for Givet wasn't it? Can't argue with that, he's been real quality.

I've just read something I find interesting. Especially with Big Sam as our manager:

    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=651390&sec=europe&cc=5739

Djorkaeff, Campo, Okocha - Sam's good at buying decent players on the way out. I could see Nedved coming here for a taste of the Prem life, before he retires in a couple of years' time. He'd be brilliant for us. What we really need in our midfield is a strong, clever playmaker, around whom all the attacks are based.

It makes me wonder, though. I mean, what will Sam be going for in the summer - youth, old legends, rejects, expensive risks?

How much cash do you reckon he'll have available?

Well, we spent 3.5m on Givet. I couldn't see more than 5-6m more in the straight up kitty. I saw a note somewhere that if we sell on RSC, a chunk of that money has to go to the bank for debt. Not sure how much though...

That'll pretty much depend on what's available after he sells those he doesn't want. I don't get the impression there's a lot to be had.

We didn't spend all the cash available in January so there's a bit left there, but not much. Like you say, it all depends on how much we get for rsc, but yeah, some of that cash has to go to the bank.

From the reports it seems that Sam want to make the squad younger, as we already have a fair bit of experience but he is also good at bringing in good older talent I agree.

Either way he's like Hughes in that he has a good reputation for picking up talent on a tight budget so here's looking forward to the summer.

new to these forums, but a player that i think has a lot of upside, pace and finishing ability is Ryan Babel from Liverpool, and from what i know they have given him the chance to leave and they need money. I like his game and would like to see him at BB.

seems as though roque could be on his way by the end of the week for £17 mill. good ridence for me. we are apparently getting di santo on loan from chelsea. the deal will be done by mid july. he is highly rated striker. he is not a roque replacement though. this is the better than amir zaki player i was taking about.
