Interesting idea, the silverbacks could go down to USL Pro and be the reserve team for the new MLS Atlanta team. They could use the existing silverbacks practice facility etc.

I like the sound of Atlanta Firebirds, but there is already an MLS team with the word "fire", the Chicago Fire. I don't think two teams with the word fire in them would work. And I'm sure the Chicago Fire would have a problem with it.
Yeah...the state of Arizona called and it wants the name of its city back. I just can't see Phoenix/Firebirds happening, I'm sorry. There has to be another name that communicates the "out of the ashes" effect in a less obvious/Matchbox Car way. Something like, but not necessarily, Resurgence FC. ps: still a fan of Atlanta Apollos SC (I mean talk about renaissance, the rebirth of a class Atlanta club??)
Doesn't have to be a "regional" name. It just can't be something alienating like Bulldogs. Call them bulldogs in black and red and I have serious issues being able to root for that team as would many others not from Georgia. But aside from that you could name it the Atlanta Toilet Bowl Cleaners and I'm on board. Just get me a freaking team I can consider local.
I have no idea... I guess because of the airport theme? But dear Lord, I hope Atlanta Firebirds is not set in stone. It's too cumbersome of a name...might as well stick with Silverbacks... There is already the Chicago Fire And it feels like we are trying too hard to apply the Phoenix theme... To me, it's Atlanta Phoenix or something else... That said, if it is... I'd still support the team vehemently.
ATL. Keep it simple - keep it about the city. Cutesy teamnames and cartoon mascots are for minor league baseball. Make it about the city and then you can apply a nickname as seen fit. ATL Soccer Club, or just ATL, like Manchester CITY. I'm a huge fan of NYCFC being called NYC. It's fantastically minimalist and hard and edgy. Please, in the name of all that's holy, no Firebirds or Phoenix or anything else that wears like a bad hairpiece.
With all the anti-Native American mascot stuff going on there is no way they risk public outcry by going with Chiefs.

Although, I'm not big on FC names and I worry about people confusing the Phoenix with Arizona... If you make it: The Atlanta Phoenix FC (or SC) It sounds clean... Still like legion... But I could support that
There will be no Atlanta Phoenix. MLS does not want a team name to be the same as the name of a future city with an MLS team.
The falcon's real name is "The Atlanta Falcons Football Club" so I would not be surprised if they just use the full name. Also, the last rendering of the stadium showed the seats in the end zone being shaped like the wing of the falcon logo, so I would like to see a falcon logo but vertical with two wings to keep in the brand but a separate logo.
