I don't care how he plays as long as he finishes this game without a knock.

i love the wanderers forum as well:

    - Lee cattlemole is coming on to snap Holdens leg... Quote me on it!
    - Holden crunches in and gives away a free kick. Welcome back.

I searched Holden on Twitter and it's amazing to see how highly regarded Stu is by Bolton fans. Their excitement about his return is through the roof, you'd think they just signed Rooney.

Well, I think Stu's better than John Rooney.

Absolutely. I think him going down was a big reason they got relegated.

give away by stu, bolton had 20 passes in a row, came to stu and he gave it away. "obviously lots of rust still" from the commentators.

There's more to it than that. Holden is a genuinely likable person, the fact that he's got local connections doesn't hurt either.

It WAS the reason. They were pushing somewhere around #10 (8? I forget now) when he got injured. When it became apparent that his injury was a season ending one I totally called it that Bolton would be relegated without him. That's how important Stu is to Bolton. I don't see how they can get back into the EPL without him with the players they currently have.

That's a massive oversimplification and one I've refuted many times as so have no desire to again.

Bolton lost a number of their best players, Cahill was sold to Chelsea, Elmander left on a free and Sturridge's loan ended. They also had a number of other injuries. The loss of Holden was certainly a blow to Bolton, but it wasn't near to being the decisive factor in their relegation. Remember Bolton had been in the Premiership for a good long time before Holden arrived and he only played 28 games in the Prem with them, they had not come to rely on him.
