I hope the conference will provide an insight if the Council will present an insurmountable challenge (i.e., Mendelson) or if a deal can really be reached.
United fans do not look this wholesome, fit and well dressed. Where's the fat drunk guy with mustard stains on his shirt?
Anyone who has ever went to Highbury Stadium by Underground on a game day will tell you that, even though Highway was located in an urban setting with townhouses and pubs all around it, the atmosphere in the street before the game commenced was fantastic.
The stadium foundations will be mixed with the bones of our outcasts and Metrotards. THE GREAT WALL OF DC!
The only way I'm "tailgating" at some bar or restaurant near the new stadium is if a big DC United fan owns it, otherwise we'll either have to find a real place to 'gate nearby or come at the last minute before the game after partying at home (that's a long way for me to drive drunk, so some of you pedestrians better hope there's a suitable place to tailgate nearby )
I approve of the women in tight pants. The one missing an arm should get a prosthetic that holds a flag, though.
The plans have generally always talked about a club-owned bar on site or nearby, and I'm assuming they are thinking Charleston-esque-- if that's the case, I'd go there.
It really was awesome. Of course, I only went once. And it was before a big Liverpool game. But it was still pretty damn impressive.
we will figure it out just like Seattle did and help the owners of the establishments out .... we will get it done - should this become a reality.
To build a soccer stadium, DC will swap the Reeves Center GreaterGreaterWashington: http://goo.gl/K19LxY So the city will give the Reeves Center to Akridge. Akridge turns over it's Buzzard Point land to the city who contributes it to the deal for a stadium. DC United pays for the building of the stadium. Effin' brilliant. No money comes from the city treasury. No new taxes. No new bonds. And I say this as a 12-year resident of the U Street area. I'll be thrilled to see the Reeves Center torn down and replaced. Complicated deal to make happen. No wonder it took so long. Vamos!
Is it the black dude with dreds? That one-armed skinhead girl who beat up all the MetroFans has really sold out!
that seems like a win win concept ... DCU gets a stadium and helps the area around Nats Park. Arkridge donates the land in a swap with DC .. DC gets the Reeves Center replaced. Essentially no tax money has to change hands. OK so where is the pitfall in Arkridge renovating the Reeves Center?
