Yeah, I was just goofin' on seeing the same post twice, so I copy+pasted the answer (which was correct anyway).
Nice to see Events DC including United in some short-run ads. Don't know what if anything this means in terms of new stadium speculation. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...5/d-c-bus-ad-salutes-nats-united-and-kastles/
I can't tell whether you are being serious or not. Even the most casual observer of this thread knows that's the site they've been considering for some time now. Thx, Jay!
I purposely didn't leave any comment. You could view this either way, I think, so I thought I'd lay it out there like a Rorschach.
http://www.wjla.com/articles/2013/01/d-c-reports-400-million-surplus-in-2012-84554.html Just enough to build a stadium. JK, of course, but maybe the reception could be slightly less chilly than in the depths of the recession.
Definitely. I think policy makers have kind of seen it coming, which is why some of the ice had thawed over the last year.
If it's in the river, it's in the District. The border with Virginia is at the low tide mark on shore on the Virginia side. The same is true with the MD-VA border. The border was settled in the first inter-state compact in the U.S. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_of_1785) When the Virginia part of the original District of Columbia was retroceded in 1846, the border between Virgina and D.C. reverted to the original Maryland-Virginia border.
Um, no I meant IN SPACE. Like with stars and space stations and stuff. I know, that was like 12,000 posts ago... I guess you had to be there.
$1.5Mil is almost enough scratch to get you a meeting with most of the PG County officials, probably 2 or 3 meetings with the DC council
Gents- DC United is meeting with the Mayor tomorrow. This is from a true insider. There is to be a "big meeting" with the Mayor tomorrow and they "hope to announce in spring/early Summer". Didn't see anywhere that they had a meeting set so thought I'd share that tid bit. I am sure you will see Goff report something about the meeting this week if he is diligent.
So there is a "big meeting" and they are going to announce what? They will hold an announcement of the stadium for a while? Or they will announce something for the Spring/Summer (like the start of construction)? Tell your insider to me more specific.
Summer/Spring will be the announcement that something will be able to be said in a press release in about 60 to 90 days.
Sounds like it's a major step in the process BEFORE any announcement can be made. So it won't be a done deal, but tomorrow is one of the major necessary steps. That's what it seems like the other poster is saying. Hopefully that's true. I'd love an announcement this Spring or Summer! I'd rather have one tomorrow, but some time in the next 60-90-150 days works for me if we're getting a stadium.
The news is that DCU has a "big meeting" with the mayor tomorrow to discuss the stadium. That hasnt been reported. Secondary is the fact that they "hope" to be able to announce a deal this Spring. Meaning, internally there is serious optimism even if its not outwardly projected.
