How come nobody mentioned the velodrome that everyone has been looking forward to might not happen at Buzzard Point?

NO VELODROME? That's it, I'm done with the city.

 

Would be funny if this were good news. Honestly, I think the Soccer Stadium would be a better fit right along the water (with a better view) and we wouldn't have to deal with those utilities down the street as much.

 

Velodrome - always makes me think of "Rollerball", which must of been Houston Dynamo brand identity team's inspiration.

 

What? No love for the man that helped produce a movie about the Homeless World Cup?

 

He likes reminding everyone of that... Has anyone ever seen rocketeer22 and Ted Leonsis at the same time or maybe this is his son, Zachary?

 

So in exchange for recommending the FBI headquarters move to Prince George's, someone in DC government wants Prince George's to allow the Redskins to break their lease with the county and return to the RFK site...

I know it won't happen, but that's just one more reason why I hope that Springfield gets the FBI HQ.

I have spoked to folks in both the Gray admin and the Baker multiple times about the FBI-Skins swap idea and couldn't find anything to it

Some of the reasons I think this idea persists. 1. Jack Evans and Vincent Gray both want the Redskins back.

2. Rushern Baker would kill for a GSA headquarters facility he can build mixed use around. Skins offer him little economic development-wise

3. The Hoover bldg site, RFK site and FedEx field site all outwardly appear to have similar size and value (even though they don't)

4. Dan Tangherlini and GSA designed the solicitation for an FBI as a trade, even though Dan's overwhelming priority is taxpayer return

Last thought: the trade assumes both the Redskins and GSA have little say, but they are the ones who will actually make location decisions

In theory the finances are: FedEx is replaced by a new home for the FBI. New stadium for the Redskins at RFK financed with Hoover site sale

I sometimes call them the Dinah-Moe Hum.

 

I know this is all just speculation, but that would be outrageous. The Hoover bldg site is a public asset, not something to, in effect, be given to Dan Snyder to sell to finance his stadium.

Besides, it's a federal asset and I can't believe the feds would give it to the city to trade for a stadium for a private company.

 

Strictly a Sears poncho.

And a really great movie, to boot (pun kinda intended). Maybe not a saint, but seemed like a decent guy when I spoke to him at the screening. Also, saw him the next day watching the tournament in DC, sweating in the hot sun in metal bleachers, just like us regular folk.

 

I'd like to see his documentary on the Rape of Nanking. I have no problem with Mr. L as a movie producer.

Group Wants RFK Stadium Parking Lots Turned Into Parks and Sports Fields

"The area just north of RFK Stadium is a barren landscape of parking lots that are often empty, spare for the occasional use for D.C. United games or a weekend farmers market. I hate people. That's dumb and just adds to my list of reasons to hate Tommy Wells. I hope nothing like that ever happens there (Lot 7). They basically jacked the NCPC plans, only paid attention to Lot 7 and said ******** hosting events at RFK.
