The kid is ok.

The whole thing was that the parent was just joking around and put the toddler inside the machine for a cute joke. Then the machine put on autolock as it should and it started working. So they freaked out.

Atleast the ones near my place, there is emergency stoppage on the machines, but they were all frantic and missed that part.

Oh I'd smack them around - but in all honesty, what they did was very VERY stupid but I think it was fueled by ignorance and stupidity rather than cruel or hurtful. The act turned out that way - but not intentionally I don't think.
