I agree that Sean Connery's James Bond was overall the best one. You can see my rankings of all the James Bonds (as of 2005) and my explanations for the rankings here.

Bear in mind, though, that I wrote that before Daniel Craig was chosen as the latest James Bond - he did a great job in the 2006 version of Casino Royale, but I still have to see how he does in Quantum of Solace to more fairly rank him (as of now, I'd rank him somewhere in the Top Three).

Also explained here is why I initially ranked Roger Moore as my favorite James Bond... at least until the marathon mentioned in the first link. ;)

So Mark, how do you rank all of the actors who played James Bond from best to worst?

I just saw it last night as planned.

    - I don't like martinis too much.
    - I'm disappointed with the movie.

    K, possible spoilers ahead...

    - The viewer, at the end of QOS, doesn't know any more than he does at the beginning of QOS...but Bond does because he interrogated some fool. So basically we have to wait two years, not to have some new plot developments surface, but just to figure out what the protagonist knows.

    - Not enough sex. At all.

    - Bond song was okay as a song, but terrible as a Bond song. Opening sequence was lame in general. The part where Bond walks out and shoots the camera was at the end of the movie instead of the beginning for some reason and I don't like it.

    - Overall, this was not that poor an effort, but horribly disappointing given how much I was looking forward to this movie. Why the flying fuk did they hire a new director, after the first one was such a success and this new director has no action experience.

    1) Connery
    3) Brosnan
    4) Craig
    5) Dalton
    6) Niven
    7) Lazenby
    10) Moore

Note that my numbering is correct here. My view is that Sean Connery is James Bond and all others suck. Brosnan was pretty good in the role. Roger Moore eventually became a parody of himself. That was pathetic. The current guy is OK, but he's too old for the role. The 00 agents would not have had very long life expectancies, thus they would all have been young.

    GOOOOO QUAAAAAKES!!!!!! :D

Yeah I was really looking forward to QOS. Saw it last night and was disappointed. There wasn't much of a story or scary plot. The bad guy was pretty good, though. I feel like they just used this movie to tie up loose ends from the last one and lead into the next one, which will hopefully be more interesting and longer than 106 minutes (shortest Bond movie ever?). So, another two years until another good Bond movie (hopefully)... four years from Casino Royale. Also, wtf did the title have to do with the movie at all?

Really all this movie did for me is remind me how good Casino Royale was.

No, the Random Jibberish thread is and always has been the Random Jibberish thread.

This thread is more specifically about what we're looking forward to in 2008.

    GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!!

Taking holidays early next month, for the better part of two weeks -- and our first extended vacation time for years that we've been able to take.

    That's what I'm looking forward to in what's left in 2008. :D

Yes -- and even after I've been here for seven years, you still can't get used to that concept? :p

My full-time day job (which is a luxury in hospitality circles, having one, really) has allowed for me to put in for two weeks' holiday every year. And as I said, the first time in years that both Jen and myself can have a real vacation.

As per the holiday, we're keeping it fairly local. We're starting off in Queenscliffe (that's somewhere on the other side of Geelong), and after a couple of days there, we're going across the bay on a massive boat with our car and then it's off to Sorrento, Mornington, Frankston and St. Kilda, before heading home to Melbourne's western suburbs.

In each of those places, we're spending about 2-3 days in each one. If I had to pick out some highlights of activities, we'll be doing a day trip by bus of some of the wineries in Mornington, swimming with dolphins off of Sorrento, and doing a deep-sea fishing day trip off of the coast of Queenscliffe, not too long after we arrive there to start our holiday.

Should be a lot of fun.

    I'm a Victorian, not a Queenslander. :p

What he did, that's up in the northern states, where one would find crocs a lot more easily.

Nonsense. This thread has become more random gibberish. I suggest that we move it to the OT forum. Because I'm cranky and obnoxious.

(Actually, I'm just pulling your leg because I'm bored.)

The thing about the martinis that are "shaken not stirred" is that shaking breaks up the ice faster, thus you get a more watered down drink, which 007 might intend. That way he can appear to be drinking, but stay mostly sober. There's a bit in "Burn Notice" where he discusses how to drink a lot without getting trashed. I'm thinking that this is the same principle.

    GOOOOO QUAAAAAAKES!!!!!!!!! :D
