I'll likely be ordering the MLS Direct Kick Package at some point soon for the first time since 2005, as I've had absolutely no reason to have it in 2006 and 2007. How much did a full season of it cost the last two years and will it likely be that same price for this coming season (come to think of it, I can't seem to remember if it was $69 or $79 back in 2005 )? After all, I somehow doubt that the full season will cost $49 as stated here. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
You're welcome. At least that was the price for the last few years; I suppose it could change for this year, but probably not by a large factor.
I can't imagine that it'd go up much (if at all) until perhaps the next round of expansion, but I guess we'll find out for sure soon. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
I finally got the chance to call Comcast today and asked about ordering the MLS Direct Kick Package. The Comcast phone rep immediately knew what I was referring to (the only other time that happened was in 2005, the last time I inquired about the Package) but informed me that it's still not in the system. However, he did mention that it was $79 last year and that it'll probably be the same price this year (confirming what's been stated in this thread), and that the Package will likely be available to order either just before the season begins or during the "Free Preview Week" on Opening Weekend. As of a couple of minutes ago, the MLS Direct Kick package is not yet available on Dish Network either. I am sure it will show up on the various outlets at the same time, which should happen relatively soon.
For those with Comcast, you may want to call them and specifically if they offer Direct Kick to your city/address. A few years ago I found that I could not order Direct Kick because I was in Milpitas but Direct Kick was available to San Jose. Comcast offered no explanation to me as a customer on such selection. Since then I switched to Direct TV. So, make sure you call and ask if it is available for your Comcast account to order it.
If the past is anything to go by, it'll be free for the first one or two weeks as a preview, and if you had it last year it'll automatically renew.
Here ya go, DirecTV folks....straight off their website: "How To Order: Regular Season Offer : Get MLS DIRECT KICK™ now for just 4 easy payments of $19.75 with your DIRECTV base package. Hurry offer ends July 25! " (For those too tired from their day or lacking math skills, that's $79.00 total.) Happy Days!! Gotta order.
That's fast. I remember that in a number of past seasons, DishTV didn't start taking orders for Direct Kick until about two weeks before the season started. Just put "MLS" into your TV Guide search function and it will come about.
Which may be the way it is again this year, as Dish Network is not yet marketing the package, but apparently DirectTV is selling it.
I'm glad I could help, everyone. The MLS Direct Kick Package doesn't automatically renew for Comcast subscribers, that wouldn't have mattered to me anyway since I had no need for it in 2006 and 2007. Nonetheless, at least the phone reps this year and in 2005 knew what I was talking about, in complete contrast to the pre-2005 era when I had to call multiple times (sometimes even into the second or third week of the MLS season) just to convince them that such a Package exists and that they actually carried it. Note: MLS games that air on ABC, ESPN2, Fox Soccer Channel/Fox Sports en Español and Telefutura/Galavision, plus select HDNet telecasts, are not available on MLS Direct Kick. Then what will be the games Direct Kick will include? What are those games on our SJ schedule? Those CSN-BA games as someone mentioned in any thread?
Oh. I was hoping that it'd be $69. Nonetheless, from the money I saved not ordering it the last two years, I should be able to afford the increased price this time around. GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
