    SPORTING news:
Rinaudo is still not a sure presence for the Europa league match vs Man City.

Damn. Sporting could sure use him .

Best money we spent last summer. More crucial to the team than he gets credit for.

Gday Lads, the lions of lisbon against the citizens of manchester. and im not talking about Jimmy Johnsons jolly ol celtic lads of 1967, im referring to FC Sporting of Lisbon. Founded in 1906 by the viscount of alvalade, the the club was borne of gentlemanly tradition by men's men who drank port wine and ate crimbits with their tea.

the britannian Malcolm allison managed the Citizens and the Lisbon Lions. Rest in Peace to Malcolm, although the chap liked the birds and the drink way too much

Sporting of Lisbon has a great defender like Anderson Polga. he likes getting stuck in like John Terry.

anyways for the Citizens the key as always against Portuguese opponents should be to limit the effectiveness of their diving and thuggery tactics. if they can do it no doubt can the citizens record yet another victory and we will toast the Queen mother.

Rinaudo is the only good player Sporting has right now.

Im so glad Rinaudo signed my Sporting jersey, the rest of these bums I feel like washing off their signatures.

No sh*t, things got sour for Sporting only after he got injured.
    Coincidence ?? I think not.

I wouldn't go that far...I still cherish my RVW autographed jersey. I spoke to someone on another club that has a poacher-type striker and asked about their experiences with him, they basically confirmed what I said, when the midfield is feeding him balls, he'll be better than any other striker in the league, but when the midfield can't connect with him, the team won't score goals and they'll lose.

That's exactly what's happened to us. Seba is supposed to be a different player than RvW, and he had absolutely no influence on the last game either. We could have CR7 out there, if he doesn't receive the ball, we'll lose....mind you CR7 will also come deep to get the ball, we haven't had a striker like that in a long time.

Liedson was the last decent striker/forward player Sporting had. Postiga would also work hard for the team.

The next round , the quarter-finals, will not be predetermined as far as opponents go. If Sporting manages to eliminate ManCity then it's open draw to find out the next opponent. Gotta stay positive :D

VwW needs to get in better positions and get himself involved. The midfield has been decent in recovering the ball but the speed of transition and final ball (this includes our wingers who can't cross to save their lives) has been woeful. Mati is too indecisive in the final third and though he can be very dangerous he also ponders on the ball too much to surprise the opposition backline. Same with Izmailov and CArrillo. Say what you will about Capel, but that guy will put in a cross with the quickness....which is why he continues to be our most active player.

I'd love to see a surprise result on this one but our recent form doesn't fill me with any confidence. Just make it interesting and fight til the end and I'll be happy.

I agree with you on Liedson.

Postiga would work hard, totally agree. His strike rate is abysmal for a striker though.

A couple of years ago, Kun Aguero , then at Atl. Madrid had one hell of a game and was probably single handed responsible for eliminating Sporting.
    Time for revenge :)

Dzeko: "We have not heard of any players on Sporting. Porto is the biggest team in Portugal"

Rui Patricio: "I have played against Dzeko, we beat him 6-2. He knows me well. We are Sporting and tomorrow he will know the Sporting players better, for our will and fight."

Used to have such respect for Dzeko. Douchebag remark. Of course he knew who Rui Patricio played for.

I was hoping for Gol TV coverage, but they'll only show the other Manchester team match.

We would know Patrício if he had had a chance to give him any trouble in that match. I guess he spent to much time harassing the portuguese fans on the sidelines to get anywhere near the goal.

    What a douche.
