July 23rd, we'll be hosting Manchester City at Sporting Park. It's a Wednesday that falls between a home LA game and an away Toronto game, so we'll be facing Keane, Donovan, whoever Manchester City sends over, Bradley, and Defoe within the span of a week.
The count currently stands at: 34 regular season games 0-6 playoff games 1-5 USOC games 2-6 CCL 2013-14 games 4 CCL 2014-15 games 0-3 Club World Cup games 1 friendly Minimum of 42 games, maximum of 59 games. And of course, that's just club games, and doesn't include the World Cup. Doesn't include pre-season (which are kind of like friendlies), either.
word to the wise to anyone who is considering going to this, city players who are on world cup squads likely won't play or even be with the team during this tour. not that city won't still have good players on show, but it's something to be aware of if seeing the absolute best matters to you.
If seeing the absolute best matters to you, don't ever go to an exhibition game in any sport. At least from my personal experience. The only exception was a game I attended in the late 1960's between the New York Rangers and their top affiliate the Omaha Knights. From what my feeble, old mind remembers NY brought and played their top, regular players.
I'm ok with that. I'm all for SKC bringing in world class brands and capitalizing on that. We need the extended revenues. It is not like we are getting as many big summer events (non-soccer) as OnGoal was hoping for to increase revenues.
We're not getting those events cause OnGoal has chosen not to have them. Buzz Beachball for example was moved last year, same for other concerts
Play "You're the Ticket Office". I assume Man City friendly won't be part of the STM package, what with the possibility of more CCL 2013-14 games (assuming things go well tonight) + USOC + CCL 2014-15. Interested in how they're going to handle the possibility of the extra games: * Assume that CCL 2013-14 semis and beyond will require purchase. * Assume all USOC up through final will be comped to STMs (if they don't want to comp, then they just won't bid on a home game) * Assume 2014-15 CCL pool games taking place in 2014 will be part of the ticket package. * All MLS Cup playoff tickets will be whole-package purchase. Does that sound about right? So "A" was the CA game, "B" will be all USOC games, and "C" will be fall?
There was no season ticket B and C, just a B, if you look at your parking passes you have to B passes.
STM package is 17 regular season home games, Cruz Azul home game, and both 2014-15 CCL home games. That's your 17 + 3 right there. Any extra games we could have faced in 2013-14 CCL,USOC, MLS Cup Playoffs, and the friendly against Man City will not be included in the STM package. Mostly because none of those games (with the exception of Man City, which is a special circumstance obviously) are guaranteed. No need to guess about which games are covered, it's already decided.
Thanks. Anyone know the financials around USOC games with regards to gate + concessions? It'd be interesting to see the tradeoffs between higher attendance + concessions on Sporting subsidized attendance vs. requiring people to buy tickets and having lower overall concessions/attendance for the same cost of operations. Hard to believe they wouldn't include at least the first USOC home game (assuming we don't tank) and try to make it up on $9 beer and gourmet meat pies.
With USOC moving to a random draw for hosting, I guess it's possible that we'd never have a game to use that ticket on. In 2011, USOC games weren't included in the ST package. They only opened the Cauldron and the West Stand, IIRC, and we only sold about 5,000 tickets. It will be interesting to see how it plays out this season.
Yup. Exactly. It's hard to use one of the three extra games on the USOC if we aren't even guaranteed a home game. Hell, even if we make it to the finals, there is no guarantee that we'll get to host a game.
Exactly. Now they can make it another "bonus game" for STH if we host an early round game. And throw that out as an extra perk for their STH.
Just got the email about the presale next week. Not seeing anything on prices. Don't feel like contacting my rep. I know people tend to forget but as a personal preference I wish they'd send an email more than 5 days in advance for budgeting reasons. Especially when it's right after my birthday and in the middle of a bunch of others!
Email I received had pricing in an attached .pdf: Field Club , F1 $350 Field Club, F2-F4 $300 Shield Club $160 West Stand $115 East Stand Midfield $115 West Stand Goal Line $95 East Stand $85 South Stand $60 Member’s Stand $50 Coors Light Cold Zone $150 Standing Room Only $30
there should be a pdf attachment that has the prices. remember, though, that they're before ticketbastard's fees, so add $7-10 to each ticket you buy. members' stand is $50 + tm fees; south stand is $60 + tm fees; east stand is $85 + tm fees. if my seat was in the east stand, i can't imagine paying $90+ to watch a friendly. that's insane... but then, people keep buying these up for these friendlies, so that makes me the weird one. EDIT: pez ninja'd me while i was dilly-dallying writing my response, and did a better job anyway.
I will look to get tickets from either the south stand sc or the cauldron save on ticketbastard fees if not a little bit more.
