Kinnear again comes up with the perfect game plan against KC. Vermes again getting outcoached. To be fair our guys aren't playing well either.
We started well, but Houston's first goal seemed to kill our energy. Houston gives us a taste of our own medicine with the physicality. and we can't handle it.
I dreaded seeing them on the playoff schedule; and now it's official, they have our number. I hate that team. And, judging by the large number of empty seats for a playoff game in their own stadium, Houstonians aren't too enamored of them either.
Man, we just didn't look good. Zusi's shot was probably our best chance. Hall is a great keeper and we didn't even test him. I don't have a lot of confidence that we'll be able to score a single goal on Houston, let alone two. Color me pessimistic, I don't see how Wednesday is going to be any different that what we just saw.
yeah, giving up that 2nd goal was massive. 0-1 is manageable, but it's hard for us to win by 2+. I'm not overly optimistic either.
Yeah it's the double edged sword, we'd pushed numbers forward looking for an equalizer and got caught. You can look at it in hindsight and say we should have been a little more conservative, but that's never been our style.
Ugh. Just Ugh. We know what they are going to do. Be physical. Knock us around. We can't depend on the refs to help. Somehow we need to get our sh!t together. Come on you Wizards.
Every game against Houston is freaking Groundhog Day. But Vermes is never, ever going to get the girl.
I thought it was Colin who got turned around on that. And after that he was trailing and the Houston player was wide open where our CB would have been had he not lost his way 30 yards up field.
Tell me why Convey came in at 89th minute. If he was available, get him out there sooner. I do not like Vermes 'flow of the game' substitution beliefs. It's just an easy way out of actually making tactical decisions. I'm bothered by this as it just another example of Vermes not being on the same level as the better managers in the league. Perhaps that is a bit unfair as Kinnear has proven to be possibly the best postseason manager. But, still. I will hope in the offseason the FO asks some hard questions. And, yes, regardless of what happens Wednesday. PV can still be the technical director no matter what. Whether he is the right person for game day management, well, the body of evidence against that is growing. Sigh...and perhaps I'm just upset.
What exactly extra would Convey have brought to the table earlier? We weren't getting much of any width for his crosses. Two finishes at the top of the Eastern Conference the past 2 years.... Last year...
Texans game at noon today at home, also massive traffic in the area in general, so people arrived late. Actual attendance was over 20k. Go back and look at the late replays. Anyway you guys are obviously a good team, today was just tough for you guys to get anything going. I imagine the next game will be a nail-biter and i wouldn't be surprised to see extra-time, which I'd be dreading of course. GL!
embarrassing, disheartened... a bad choice of a game to play our worst of the year... and consider us lucky, they missed a sitter... it should've been 3-0 gonna be hard to get pumped in the parking lot for Wednesday
Their midfield chewed us up. Espinoza looked tired, Zusi a bit weak and Cesar slow. Clark dominated us and we have no forward options. Can't believe we signed no attacking talent in the summer window. Vermes needs to stop giving the excuse that the refs are bad. I'm tired of that excuse. I really hope we pull this together at home..
FYP Last year, actually. BUT we scored 3 goals in one game three times all year, and one of those games included two PK's. I guess to be more optimistic, we only have to get two to send it into extra time. I don't have much hope of our season going past Wednesday, but the key will be to get a goal within the first 15 minutes. If we go into halftime still down 2-0, we are cooked. I hope Nagamura is ready to go...our bench was very thin today. The subs made very little sense. We are sorely missing Teal right now.
