You wont find a station that leaves a live game. Look up the Heidi incident.

I think there are a number here that would agree with you, self included, about the Summer part. Now, time will tell about the colder months part...?

And possibly the first goal, then, too.
When soccer games run long? Not positive if that is what you are referring to.

In any case, while it does happen, it generally only does so during knock-out competitions, which are a small percentage of games played, and even then isn't the norm. There are situations where weather or long stoppages occur, but those are even rarer.

On the other hand, how long, exactly, should an American Football game last? Or a baseball game?

Don't get me wrong - I understand why they stick with the game being played, but it frustrates me to no end when sports which have such poorly defined playtimes interfere with the one I am actually interested in watching... which generally doesn't run significantly longer than how it is defined.

Perhaps if/when NBC Sports gets an online presence and those who are able can watch from there while the broadcast finishes the previous game I won't be so annoyed, but I did find it pretty frustrating that we might miss parts of a playoff game because of a CFL game that doesn't want to end.

From the Dynamo board this evening:

"There was a pretty good storm and downpour Downtown about an hour or so ago. Guess what's going on at BBVA Compass right now? TSU football. Grounds crew will earn their salary tonite. I know the field can take the rain, but the field already looking a bit chewed up (if blurry) on TV and they are only in the first quarter. It should dry and they will roll the field, but not sure how solid footing will be."

Wonder if they're seeing the same first-year-turf issues we had last year?

Yes we are. Not trying to be competitive, but I don't think it is as bad as at the height of LSP issues. But we've still had first year problems.

Yeah with the rain, KC didn't get to train at BBVA today, instead trained in the hotel ballroom.

Curious to see the condition of the field. Could be chewed-up with an NCAA game played on wet grass last night.

I'd be happy with a point, no cards and everyone healthy for the second game.

i think we have to be aiming to get the win in this game. i'm not confident in our ability to break them down at home if we get a draw or a loss in this first game.

A draw isn't as much a problem since the worst we end up having is extra time and possibly PKs if no one scores. Not optimal but we should be confident after winning a bigger game on PKs.

Houston came in during the regular season going a for a draw, but there is no draw here, so I don't expect them to play the same way.

And we are a completely different team from last year's game.

i could certainly see houston playing for a draw and going to pk's if it's level coming back to kc. i'd bet they're rather take their chances in a pk shootout than push forward and give our guys any open looks/seams in their defense at any point during 120 minutes.

how so? we may be a bit more mature as a team, but i don't think we look much different from last year's team at all... definitely not completely different. maybe i'm misunderstanding exactly what you're talking about, though.

Moffat blasted a shot to jimmy's right, off of a bounce from about 25 yards out. no chance jimmy could get it. I believe it was the 18th minute.

Houston was pushing forward, we couldn't clear the ball, Moffat got on the end of a volley about 25 yards out, screamer into the upper 90. That was in the 18th minute. We looked to be controlling the game before that, seems to be fairly back and forth since then.

The boys need to HTFU. We're getting knocked off the ball repeatedly, and too easily. Also our passes need to be weighted better. Everything seems to be long.

58% passing is actually better than I thought it might be. Strategy seems to be to flick the ball forward and pray a forward is there at the end of it.

I know. We can't seem to put anything together on the offensive end.
