At home in new stadium, Sporting KC no longer city's "stepchild" despite other pro teams' success http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...-longer-citys-stepchild-despite-other-pro-tea
http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702303497804579238530865930714 I get the idea of the article (it's one plenty of people have discussed), but man what a horribly written article.
"many in the Kansas City area root for Jayhawks basketball and Tigers football. As a Jayhawk, for instance, I'm pulling for the Tigers this Saturday." I think I just threw up in my mouth.
I think fans of both the Jayhawks and the Tigers gagged on that one. Related aside: As a Tiger fan, I was quite happy with Villinova last week
Take that guy's diploma back. Immediately. I know some misguided KU fans who pull for KSU football, but co-rooting for Mizzou in anything is an abomination.
This has kind of gone viral today. Matt BeslerVerified account @mbesler Just found out that #SKCNation got a hold of my wedding registry and completely cleaned it out. That's incredible. Wow. Thank you!
Robb on KCPT, starts at 13:16 Nothing terribly groundbreaking. Mentions that they're still looking or at least open to selling the stadium naming rights and later on takes a jab at Jason Kreis Interviewer got a little pushy about Mizzou being in front of SKC in the KC Star...
That is one of the worst articles I have ever read. I'm not even sure what his stance on this issue is. Also, the Star was filled with SKC stuff today, some really good articles.
Holy crap, that 10 PK picture decatyptych was incredible. Not all from the same point in the strike, but look at the form on all of them. Olum--OMFG! My "hockey stick leg" on Olum post was right, although props for the whole broken leg attempt. But look at that form on Collin! That picture with Rimando missing Collin is the next one I want above my desk. (And I have the iconic USOC Glory of the City pic above it now...finally hung the night of the MLS Cup win per a promise to the kids for their Father's Day gift if we won...) Five players in both set of pix: Besler (1-2), Sinovic (1-1 + Hou 2nd leg goal), Myers (1-1), Olum (0-1 + RSL reg season OT goal for home field), Nagamura, 2-2.
Of course, you're right! I was conflating the Olum goal at Philly down the stretch in the Supporter's Shield race with the Opara goal. Both essential, but Opara's obviously more so to take points from RSL.
It's funny. Born and raised a Jayhawk in KC, I feel the same way. That said, I actually find that I follow and support the Mexican national team - when they're not playing us. Almost in a sibling rivalry kinda way. Our fortunes are inextricably linked in a way that KU and MU's are not. Having lived 30 years in Durham/Chapel Hill, I can tell you that most ACC fans I know openly support other ACC teams - especially in March Madness and bowl games. They look aghast when I tell them the perfect NCAA Basketball tournament for me is one in which Big XII schools go 6-6 with KU winning 6 games and the other 6 qualifying teams losing in the first round. Just a different mindset.

So you young and young-at-heart pups out there... How much SKC news and info am I missing by not being on snapchat? I do follow a bunch of SKC related folks and accounts on Twitter, I don't do Facebook (people posting here about the Cauldron account have caused me to think I'm better off that way) and I like BS. LMK what ephemeral info I'm not seeing because I'm not hitched to the the social media bandwagon of the moment. Thanks!
I have no idea what kind of news or info is feasible through Snapchat. Snapchat is just an app where you can send pictures to people...but the catch is those pictures only last around 10 seconds before they're gone (and if you try to screenshot it the sender is alerted). So as you can imagine, snapchat is mostly used for goofing off or sending nudies. I'm guessing SKC will mostly use it for behind the scenes pics and stuff, kind of like they had Dwyer and Saad "take over" their instagram for a day and just post pictures. Or shower pics of Zusi . So if you really like the pictures that SKC tweets, then go for it. If not, well, you don't have to keep the app.
oh right. i have heard of it, actually (thanks to that news report from st. louis about the dumb mom and her dumb daughter). really, it sounds completely pointless.
People keep telling me that, but I've had it for months now and haven't reaped any 10 second rewards.
They'll probably just use the "Story" function, where the picture basically stays on for 24 hours and is visible by their friends, or anyone.
So my thread got deleted but anyone else notice in this article how they said SKC bid $40 million for Michael Bradley? http://www.goal.com/en-ca/news/4175...toronto-fcs-big-splash-is-a-message-to-league
