Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 i don't believe cj will have a sophomore slump. i see those being a result of mentality and maturity. everything i've seen and heard from him tells me that he won't be susceptible like teal was. and zusi's been a pro for too long to have a sophomore slump.
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 I can see National Team service helping them out with that too. That is great experience and an early jump on preseason training.
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 Ya. The national team call-up can be a blessing OR detriment to a young player. Hopefully, all of our guys just continue to grow and get better.
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 Almost two full pages in the Star today about the draft, including a huge chunk of the front page of the sports section. We are either finally moving up in importance, or it's just a slow news day in sports. Considering the NFL playoffs are going on and the Big 12 is in conference play, I would say that having the draft here this year along with all of our success last season is finally getting us our much deserved attention with the local media.
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 Now I know why the Star is sitting on my desk at work. Haven't opened it yet, but a friend of mine always delivers his copy to me if there is SKC news....
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 This screenshot is from a 1988 Juicy Fruit commercial. It 100% proves that Chance Myers is a vampire or some shit. Discuss.
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/2012/01/19/thomas-ends-european-adventure-return-kc Article from MLS website about Michael Thomas coming home to KC. Check the combine video in the article.
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 If you haven't seen them, SKC is what appears to be one of the three teams, MLS' video series "Inside the Super Draft" is focused on. Part 1 features Vermes prominently: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zq_HLX12ykY&list=UUSZbXT5TLLW_i-5W8FZpFsg&index=5&feature=plpp_video"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zq_HLX12ykY&list=UUSZbXT5TLLW_i-5W8FZpFsg&index=5&feature=plpp_video[/ame] Part 2 John Pascarella shows up multiple times, talking about his role as the man in charge of college scouting for the team and the thought process that goes into it. Its interesting and worth a watch: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-BVyw6Mw6Y&list=UUSZbXT5TLLW_i-5W8FZpFsg&index=3&feature=plpp_video"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-BVyw6Mw6Y&list=UUSZbXT5TLLW_i-5W8FZpFsg&index=3&feature=plpp_video[/ame] From the looks of the preview for Part 3, we're going to get to listen in on some of the dialog that went on at SKC's table at the draft (along with some other teams). Definitely something I'm personally interested in hearing.
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 okay, so we didnt get the all-star game (this year). Have to admit, kinda hard to complain about it though. Props to philly. http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2012/01/philadelphia-to-host-2012-mls-all-star-game.html
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 That's okay.....since we will be hosting MLS Cup this year. #PaintTheWall
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 Not directed at you, but in general I'm already hating that hash tag.
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 You know who to blame for that one..... I saw Besler tweet last Friday that players "brought their paintbrushes" to camp, so the players have already caught on.
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 I'm usually the grumpiest person when it comes to advertising techniques, but I love it. Like I said on Twitter, I want it to be the season motto for the team. Advertise that thing to death.
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 alright, it's now in multiple threads. does someone want to explain what they're talking about to those of us not on twitter?
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 people with the team have started using the hashtag #paintthewall on twitter to describe the season, referring to the wall in the northwest corner that has our titles on it.
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 Seriously, if you haven't watched Part 3 of "Inside the Superdraft" yet, its a must watch. Something I've always wanted to hear: What the coaches are saying at the draft table. Lucky for us, KC is one of three teams we get to listen in on. Very interesting how much trade discussion there really was. DC tried to give cash to NE to switch their 7 and 3 picks. Smart on New England to stay put, imo. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqBqUmj-23M&list=PL2063ED45BD0DF67C&feature=plcp"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqBqUmj-23M&list=PL2063ED45BD0DF67C&feature=plcp[/ame] The thing that killed me was the opinion's of our staff on Dom. Hilarious: Peter: "He's a ********ing beast" Robb: "He's ********ing big" Jon: "He's a bulldog" Kerry: "I'll tell you what, he's a good dresser. He's got good style" I loved how when Robb called him, "********ing big" everyone agreed and reiterated that opinion, except for Kerry who had to point out, again, that "he has some style". Oh Kerry.
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 That's pretty cool. Watching made me wish I would have put a little more effort into trying to make it to the draft. Interested to see the convo about Hedrick since he was a "who the hell is that" pick.
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 http://www.kansascity.com/2012/01/24/3390143/sporting-news-besler-emerges-as.html#storylink=rss nice piece on the current state of the roster as camp opened. looks like plenty of competition to make the team as well as a few spots in the starting 11. those draft picks are really gonna have to impress to make the roster
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 Is there a banner in the works for this yet? I can see some kind of Sporting blue Hulk-type character ripping the jersey off as he "gets angry"....
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 If only there were some beastly, Hulk-like character out there already that we could go off of. Hmmmm....
Re: Sporting Kansas City in the Media: 2011 Ha! That's perfect.....the color is even pretty close to being right. I am showing my age I guess, since I was picturing a Sporting blue version of Lou Ferigno in my head. When it comes to X-Men, I only have eyes for Hugh Jackman....
