So Jefferson is IN. Who's next? Rumors that Turan will be sold to a Turkish team, and that Renato Neto isn't part of the club's plans for next season. Still curious to see whether Andre Santos, Wilson Eduardo are brought back.
That makes sense. What about Owusu and William Carvalho? Anyone know how they've progressed in Belgium? So you see a place for Santos too? He seems less likely to me, since we have Joao Mario and Zezinho waiting in the wings.
Like I said in the other thread the midfield is a mess for me to predict anything. I'm saying that André Santos is going to return only because it was in the news, but now that I think about it I bet LJ hasn't decided that yet.
Let me just had something that I had forgotten. Wilson Eduardo was coached by Leonardo Jardim back in 2010/11 at Beira-Mar, he was their super-sub back then. Leonardo would usually get him onto the pitch during the second half to face the oppositions tired defenders and Wilson did well, ended that season with five goals and a little under 1300 minutes of PT, in what was is first season on the Primeira Liga.
Wilson should have made the team last year, far better than Jeffren. William Carvalho's contract expires in a month, and I doubt they'll renew it. Expect players like : Capel, Patricio, Boulahrouz, Jeffren and maybe even Schaars to leave. PLUS: Augusto Inacio (Director of Football) via the clubs newspaper said the first team will be composed of 20 players while the B team will have 22.
^ I understand why they'd want to let Jeffren play so we could see if he had anything to give. He didnt, still doesn't and should be the first one out. Such a disappointment, overrated because of his Barca connection. Must say that when he did play last summer, Wilson looked off the pace and kinda clumsy with his touches. Might've been nerves or the pressure to try and win Sa Pinto over to stay.
I expect many more sales than purchases. Players out on loan definitely need to go. I don't care if it's for 1 euro consideration, at a loss or at a profit. We simply cannot have 20 players out on loan that we originally bought for the first team. Salomao, Santos, Carvalho, Owusu, Evaldo, Oneywu...sell them for whatever you can get. There is nothing they can bring that we don't already have. Eduardo will make the team. He'll end up #2 striker battling with Viola for the role. As for whose coming...I don't like hearing these Eastern European names again. Last time around that was a disaster, every single one of them...Vukevic, Purovic, Stojakovic...disaster. I'd stick with Dutch, get some Belgians as their NT is looking pretty good right now. Then just head back to S.A., pick up Yordy Reyna and collect an Argentine and Colombian on the way back. Turan is gone. He never really had a chance here. Starting LB on relegated Ligue 2 team. Pffft. Arias apparently wants out because lack of playing time. So we have to say Cedric, Goncalves and Lopes...long-term which two are our guys. I'm very curious about this Monetti, Argentine GK on the advice of Rinaudo. It will be an interesting off-season full of sales, and regrettably not much coming back the other way.
Doubt we'd be able to afford dutch and belgian players, we have virtually no money and have to pay off a lot of debts. Wilson is a winger, were in deep trouble if he's brought in to play striker imo.
Yeah, I don't see him as a striker either. LW seems his spot. But hey, Maybe we actually play with 2 strikers next season from time to time?!!
My hopes were up today when I saw Steve Vitoria associated with our club. Finally someone who can score on the regular I said...then my spirits were crushed when I realized he's probably already signed to Chievo. FML.
So Miguel Lopes is out, aka the guy we part-exchanged for Izmaylov. So that leaves us with zilch to show for Izzy, given we've sent back Ventura and likely will get nothing of value as the alternative (which I understand we have a right to select another player). Another horrible transfer.
Isn't he a CB? Where are seeing that Lopes is on the way out? Maybe means we go with Cedric and Arias. As for selecting another player, wonder how that would work seeing as how we just cut off relations with them.
Yea he's a CB, big strong guy that scores from freekicks and corners fairly often. He takes Estoril's penalties which, like RvW, makes it seem like he scores a lot more than he actually does. 9 of his 13 are from the spot. Not great defensively but adds an extra threat from corners, a lot like Gooch actually.
Vitoria scores basically every other game from a FK or PK (they have a lot of divers...errrr players susceptible to getting PK's for them). Some games he'll score twice...such as against Benfica (where he scored a PK and FK if I remember correctly). No idea on Lopes, think we're screwed. Went from Izmaylov for Kadu, to Izmaylov and Lopes/Kadu to Izmaylov for Lopes and loan of Ventura. Looks like it'll be Izmaylov for free. GL screwed us on this one. As if Porto didn't have the cash for Izmaylov. As for the detractors of Labyad, I'll put it simply. Capel gone, RvW gone, Carrillo not so great 2nd year, Jeffren gone, Adrien likely gone, Schaars likely gone, Andre Martins likely the only one staying. Now you tell me who our #10 is? or are alternative on the wing is? Carrillo/Bruma with Esgaio? Sorry but if you think Zezinho, Joao Mario are going to step in and play just like that, I think you're off. Zezinho is more defensive and Joao Mario is more Verratti/Pirlo deep-playmaker rather than advanced playmaker/attacker. Like it or not we have to retain someone with some sort of attacking prowess. If our front 3 is Carrillo, Betinho/Viola/Rubio, Bruma supported by Martins, Rinaudo, Zezinho consider us relegated.
I can see what you are saying, but no way are Adrien AND Schaars both gone. I have no problem keeping Labyad but we need to get his wages in line with our new limits, and if he isn't willing to look into that he may have to be moved.
Were obviously not just selling all those players without getting replacements... I'd rather sell Labyad and hold on to Capel to be honest, at least Capel puts in an effort. I don't know about you guys, but I really haven't seen Labyad show any attacking prowess..
Labyad says he doesn't want to leave. Possible that even if we agree to terms, he says screw you guys, I'm playing here.
Not sure how that would benefit him. If he is eager to stay, that's good, we just need to reduce his wages a bit and maybe spread that money out. Agree with SCP21, if we could get some cash for Labyad and hold onto Capel that would be fine too.
Capel said "Playing for Sporting was the best two years of my career". Well letting him go now stings quite a bit more. Can't remember the last time we've had such a model player who even at the exit is a symbol of class.
