Great game by Sporting. Moutinho MOS not only for the spectacular goal, but for everything he did out there the whole season.

Nani was also spectacular, just a shame Liedson couldn't get his 2 goals.

Congrats to Paulo for achieving the CL entry, and the whole team.
As for Braga excellent season again, and Jesualdo did a great job.
We need to appreciate this team, they keep coming up with great young talents just like Sporting.

Now SCP directors, we need to hold Caneira, and another forward to help Liedson.

    DONE!!!!!!
    GREAT SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORTING! :)

    Champions league on sight.
And totally diserved! In the second half of the championship Sporting made 17 games: 13 wins, 3 draws, and 1 defeat. Pretty nice!

    So, project for next season:
1- Specific training for Nani (like Barça did to Figo and Man.Utd to Ronaldo),
2- Buy a defensive midfielder with some experience, tecnich and speed.
    3- Buy Benachour from V.Guimaraes.
4- Make Deivid an area predator and not a wing striker.
    5- Be CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!!! :D

Congrats guys, Good season for you. There was not much incentive for Braga to win from what Forca tells me the game was pretty decided after the Sporting goal. Hopefully you guys can cause some damage in the CL and hopefully Benfica smokes their 3rd round opponents so we can have 3 Portuguese teams in the CL next year.

It was very important for this team to get into the Champions League next season. Lord knows that we need the cash infusion that getting in will bring, and it will ensure that the team is going to be competitive as the players have more incentive to play well and show their abilities to other potention suitors. It's a win-win situation for everyone...

Its one thing to be included in the great competitions, its another to win them! Obviously Porto isnt Sporting, I for one wouldnt be celbrating a 2nd place finish! Congratulations. :)

well, if you consider the turmoil sporting went through in the early half of the season with Jose Peseiro being fired, a unconfident team getting very inconsistent results -a new coach Paulo Bento being installed he turned this team around and brought them up from about 5th place to finish second which is a nice accomplishment.

Hell, Bento even had Sporting fighting for the title, and it took the narrowest of a win from Porto to take it away from us

Next season Bento will have a full season to work with the team, lets hope for a successful next season!!

Just to add a little commentary...about not the game but the trolls that have found their way here....AGAIN:D

No one is celebrating finishing in second. The fans are celebrating what comes with finishing second...being included in the CL group stages directly.

That is a guaranteed 3.6 Million Euros just for participating in it. Even if they don't win any games:eek:

And for the record I clearly remember all you tripeiros celebrating like it was Dia De Camoes win Porto finished in second last year...

    Hypocrites:D

    Yeah...right....

That's the Pot calling the kettle black...

Do we have any soccer conversation coming anytime soon on these boards?

All we read lately is the following:

    "Your team sucks"
    "Your team sucks more"
    "Ours only sucks some times"

    "Our players suck"
    "Your players suck less"

Let me remind you that last year was a very awkward season. aka the estoreis, setubals, leirias, rioaves, belenseses, boavistas, maritimos. FC Porto deserved to celebrate last years 2nd place onlyy because to many it was considered 1st, proof, look at Benfica of this year, better than last but ooh so crappy!

I will admit that I am happy for Paulo Bento, he deserves to stay behind the bench next season and hopefully Sporting can conquer their goals as long as it doesnt interfer with adriaanse's.
