Police are expecting about 40,000 fans to come out for this one - including yours truly  There's a bit of a buzz around the town however I think some are miffed that the game is being played on a Monday night. Police are definately not thrilled as the match time (20:15 local time) coincides with people trying to get home from work, so it's going to be a logistical nightmare on Monday night...

Post some pics (with the claques etc.)

BTW, since the game is being played at the Alvalade I;m inviting everyone to the Sporting forum for the match.

Sucks to see a game of this calibre be played on a Monday, should be a packed stadium, but 40,000 for a monday game is a lot. Barcelona and Real Madrid on a Monday too.

They're taking a page from the EPL, taking a page from the NFL. I think Monday night games are brilliant...but it may take some time for it to catch. Setting derbys like this should help, because then the game becomes a "big event" even for neutrals.

Need to stop playing on the counter and put this Carrico-less sporting defence under more pressure, especially the leftside.

Gaitan has really become a key player over the course of this season. Great stuff from him.

sporting is so trash this season dont even know why he gets so happy

oh I almost forgot. Benficas sole reason for existing is to hate the great Mythical institution that is Sporting Club of Portugal.

Actually, we were founded in 1904 when Sporting didn't exist yet so....

    lol

Sport Lisboa was founded in 1904

SL Benfica was founded in 1908, but they choose to take the founding date of Sport Lisboa in 1904 so they can claim to be older than Sporting.

The antecessor of Sporting CP was Campo Grande Sporting clube (or something like that) which was founded in 1902, but Sporting CP chooses 1906 as its true foundation date because thats when they adopted the name Sporting CP.

so in reality, Sporting CP is older.
