Sporting plays the semi final of the uefa europa league first leg at home to Athletic Bilbao.

    Who?

exactly, they claim to be from Basque, But last time I checked I world map I could not find a country called "Basque"

for some reason they think they are faviourtes, but should be a good game hopefully Sporting can win and we can plan ahead to Bucharest.

They won today against Mallorca and have had their best league season in quite a few years and their Europa league showing is even better.

I read in Record that this is only the 2nd time both clubs face each other in European competitions. Sporting won the last time with the return leg in Alvalade by a score of 3-0.

Tough club to play at this stage. They seem hungry for this Cup and have some great players for us to contend with. Could go either way, let's hope the good guys win it.

    Well
No pressure. If we lose it's cause everyone expects us to. Bilbao are already in the final apparently. We are just happy to be here .

Who isn't giving us credit? Sounds to me like your not giving Bilbao credit. Stop acting like a victim, it's ********ing annoying.

That goal by Insua was crucial. Sporting looked down and almost out, playing without intensity and then after the goal they just pounded Athletic hard and got them on the ropes.

Wolfswinkel missed so many chances, it was unreal. Sporting could have won by a big margin had they been clinical but, given the state of the game at 0-1, 2-1 is a massive result.

Are you sure your a Sporting fan?

    2-1

Not afraid of Bilbao, maybe the media should think twice next time they write us off

either way we end the season 100% WINNING at Jose Alvalade in europe.

Agreed, Wolfswinkel has to do better with his chances. If he does get on a role, watch out for Sporting !!! Congrats today guys. Sporting will come out of this game with a great deal of confidence and Biblao will have a bit of doubt that they may not have had before. Viva Portugal.

Sporting set a new record winning all 8 european home matches in one season

the previous record was 7, by Barcelona in the 2002/03 Uefa Champions League

Great game and great come back. After the Bilbao goal against the run of play the team looked apathetic. Insua came through with a crucial goal. Not the prettiest and it was really poor defending by Bilbao, but it came at the right time.

    Tremendous goal by Capel.

Only downside were the missed opportunities by Ricky. He needs to finish those, in particular the header that would've put SCP up 1-0.
