Well, Frank's gone, Avi hasn't been around the last couple of days, and Golmirvan has been AWOL for a while, but the show must go on. Beira Mar is in the SuperLiga again, and they now have a thread in the Portugal: Other Liga Clubs sub-forum...

Hello to everyone at Beira-Mar from here in England.

Congatulation on your promotion. What I really wanted to know is how Jorge Leitao is doing. I know he's scored a few times since he returned to Portugal. Does he have a contract for next season ? .

Jorge played for my team Walsall for the past 5 years. He was a real hero here and is really missed.

Everyone here looks out for the Beira-Mar results. Good luck for the SuperLiga :)

He did well. He was mostly contracted because our revelation of the year, Roma, was out injured, but he proved his worth. He is set to stay on for another year, he hasn't been included in the last of dispensables, and I've heard no rumors about him leaving. He did well. Nothing flashy, but he put away the chances he got. Will he feature in the side next year? Depends a lot on the progress of Carlos Gomes and Artur, and any possible transfers we get in. I think he'd do OK in the league, but I'm not sure if he's got the pace for it with his age. We'll see what happens!

Yeah, I heard that you lost your other forward as well shortly after he departed. Did you end up getting relegated or still in the same division?

Yes, we lost our England under 19 international Matty Fryatt to Leicester City at the same time. As a result of lossing him and Jorge we did not score enough goals and got relegated to the 4th tier of English football.

It really hurts ! We were in the Championship two years ago.

    Ouch.

Why would your management let clubs talk to both your forwards though? Doesn't make sense.

    Beira-Mar's Wegno

Beira-Mar are also currently looking to secure Diakite, who has brought interest from Lyon.

It didn't make sense at all, not to anyone. We think that the club was in need of money and desperate to cut salaries. It was also suggested that a replacement was lined up which failed to materialise before the transfer window closed.

The manager responsible (the (in)famous Paul Merson) is no longer with us and is looking for a job!

Jorge Vidigal is Beira-Mar's second incoming transfer of the new season.

    Mede 1.76m e pesa 77kg.

Looks like a good player to place on the right, given Ribeiro's age. Good pick-up for the position IMO. Hope we get a playmaker soon though!

Jorge Silva, the captain, has signed on for another 2 seasons with the club. Ale, the young Brazilian goalkeeper, has signed on for another year with one optional. And Marco has also signed on for another year. The only question mark remaining in terms of renovations is that over Pavel Srnicek's head as he is still in the Czech Republic, as granted to him.

Penafiel and Rio Ave have some decent options as well.

I think Bruno Amaro from Penafiel would be a good pickup for Beira-Mar. He's young and has some talent. Only thing with him is that he gets too many cards...10 yellows and 2 reds this year.

Milhazes is another player that is too good for the Liga de Honra but I don't think you guys need a LB.

Don't need an LB, especially now that we have signed Nuno Carvalheiro to back-up Tininho.

Penafiel and Rio Ave do have good options, but they are simply unable to compete with the kind of players you can get out of Belenenses and Guimaraes. Marco Aurelio, Meyong, Benachor, Dragoner, Ahamada, Neca, Saganowski, Targino, etc. All great players for a team like Beira-Mar. But knowing how the system goes, Porto/Benfica/Sporting will evenly distribute them onto their benches and loan out where necessary.

Also, look for Ale to mark an impression next year, I've heard good things about him. He'll take over the goalkeeper spot as Pavel Srnicek has announced that, at 38 years of age, he'll either play one last season in England or Italy, or if nothing materializes, will retire from football.

3 out of 4 is not bad. :D

Beira-Mar are in the market for a new goalkeeper, and reports suggest Mora from Rio Ave and Nelson from Sporting are options.

Rogerinho is the new number 10 selected from Brazil by Inacio, and I found a really ultra rare picture of Eusebio playing for Beira-Mar.

What a great transfer. Luciano Ratinho is a great player, and I'd LOVE to see him in a Beira-Mar jersey. I think the team is really building up accurately and precisely where it is needed, and this is all due to the great work the administration does.

I think we'll see Ratinho presented as well as the Slovenian keeper that has been talked about, and Dani along with Rogerio perhaps.

Getting excited about signing Ratinho, big signing, one of the biggest ones of the transfer season if it happens.

Oh you got lucky. Academica should be a good game (rivalry) and the game against Guimaraes should be some good football.

More news, and I already kind of anticipated it after it was said there was a club from the north in contact with him...

Not really good news but... news all the same...

Mario Jardel will sign with Beira-Mar...

If Jardel is a quarter of the player that he was while with Sporting, it would be a good pick-up for Beira Mar. Also, Daniel Fernandes is a young, solid keeper. I like Beira Mar's chances of staying up after the season...

The Luciano Ratinho saga has ended, he was presented today to the club. At the presentation the president confirmed reports from Record and Sportv that Jardel is a Beira-Mar player.

He has a contract for one season and will be presented Thursday by the club.

Nothing confirmed in regards to Daniel Fernandes and Srnicek.
