    Nothing worse than premature speculation.

I speculate there will be no signings until the transfer window opens on Jan. 31st, 2012.

Though not exactly unequivical (if you actually read the quotes), Villas-Boas has stated that Chelsea no longer want to buy Modric. I think this probably helps the situation, but I'm not really sure. Also not sure why he would say that.

Saw a few articles on this, and I don't really think he said that at all, despite what the headlines say. AVB qualifies his statement with: "The market is closed and I won't speculate what happens in January."

So, in other words, I don't know what we'll be looking at in Jan yet. You can bet if they still need help at midfield they'll still want Luka.

Don't, that will guarantee he moves on by next season. Maybe we can get Beckham jerseys in advance since Harry is reported to really want him?

I need to get an old Bentley jersey so some club will give him a permanent transfer.

He hasn't been that great so far this season. Possibly because he was unsettled over the summer, but it still makes me worry about taking him on big money...

But with Gallas and Dawson making Ledley look like a regular, and the club's relationship with Bassong pretty much unsalvageable, we may have no choice but to bring in a central defender. Is Cahill the one, though? Based on this season's form alone, I'd almost rather recall Caulker.

Cahill only has 6 months left on his contract and seems to be only on >30k at Bolton, so he would not cost much. I've been pretty impressed when I've seen him, he does look to have a bit more to his game than Dawson and certainly better than Bassong. I suspect City may move for him to replace Kolo Toure, or perhaps Liverpool may get desperate and offer silly money.

Price-wise, I don't expect Bolton to let him go for less than 10 mil. Which is riddiculous, given that he only has 6 months left... but they stuck to their guns asking for 15 over the summer, and I expect them to do the same this time around. In terms of his wages, the fact that he only has 6 months left gives him all the bargaining power, so I expect that he'll be wanting a big, big raise. All in all, he's not going to be cheap. And given Bolton's shambolic defending this season I'm just not sure he's worth it. Good shout about Liverpool probably beating us to him though, so we'll see whether he's more of a "Joe Cole" or a "Luis Suarez."

There are reports from Italy Roma are going to offer Spurs between 6-7 million euros for Corluka..Do you guys think Spurs would sell him at that price?

Some noise about Vertonghen from Ajax signing. Doubt it, but would love it.

Levy will probably hold out for 9-10

I think the club would want to push it little higher to 8 or 9, but may settle for that. It all depends on who the club would want to replace him and their price tag, the big rumour is Joao Pereira and he would cost 8 to 11 apparently.

As a centreback instead of Cahill the club is now being linked with Jan Vertonghen of Ajax for £10 million.

I'd rather have Vertonghen if I'm being honest. We need a potential leader to take over when Ledley isn't able to go. Daws isn't that man. Neither is Kaboul. Vertonghen is the Ajax & Belgium captain if I'm not mistaken. Not too shabby.

Would not be opposed to getting Vertonghen in at all. It seems like Spurs like having defenders that can play at DM if absolutely necessary. King, Kaboul, and Corluka (to a lesser extent) come to mind, with Huddlestone being the opposite. Not sure if I would trust Sandro in the back line, but if Zokora could play in the back, I bet he could.
