I never realized how short and simple that song is. My only exposure to it was from the 1987 vhs tape "Heroes And Heartaches: A History Of Boston Sports From 1975" which I played until it wore out. Every time the Sox or Bruins lost, the video would play that as the Reds or Habs celebrated. :)

    Hmmmmmmm

speaking of dmx, we did an interesting version of the ruff ryders anthem at giants stadium for the gold cup final.

stop, drop, shut em down open up shop oh, no
    thats how the u.s rolls

it would also be possible to do a version of x gonna give it to ya

    call: first we gonna
    response: rock
    call: then we gonna
    response roll
    call: then we let it
    response: pop
    all: go let it go
revs gonna give it to ya, we gonna give it to ya (x2)

hahahah the dmx possibilites are endless

Any thoughts on breaking in to "Glory, Glory Revolution" right after goals while the crowd is still pumped from what just occurred, a post-goal celebratory song if you will. Perhaps right after the goal is announced. It seems lately that we go nuts for a bit, then the crowd dies down and we'll eventually get back in to it with a Rev-o-lution chant, the above scenario would help to carry the momentum a bit more. Not suggesting that this become the only time we use the tune, but rather that it is a good time to use the song.

    Re: Wild Rover.

We had tried singing a variation of that quite awhile back, we've been discussing ressurecting it. The chorus we used was.

    And it's no nay never
    no nay never no more
    will you shoot and score
    no never no more.

    Hi All,

This may not be a new idea. I think the way we coordinate singing in the stands is to use Twitter.

Whoever (2-3 people max) who will decide the next song to be sung are the twitterers the rest of us will follow. Then those of us who have PDAs will check twitter for tweets from these coordinators what to sing next and when. Those who do not have a PDA can ask someone next to them. The beauty of it is that you can join the group throughout the whole stadium, at home, travelling, and in any event.

Specifically the "hoooo, ohhh ohh ohhh, ohhh ohh ohhhh, ohhh ohhhh ohh" part in the beginning. Thoughts?

When (optimistic outlook) or if (realistic outlook) Twellman comes back, the Fort should welcome him back with his own song:

To the tune of "that's amore"

When the ball hits the net
Its a fairly safe bet that its Twellman
    Taylor Twellman
    And When the Revs score
You will hear the Fort roar "Oh, its Twellman
    Taylor Twellman"
Not Clint Dempsey, it's number twenty
Who's the best man up front? "Oh, its Twellman
    Taylor Twellman"
He's the King of the Fort
    He never comes up short
    Taylor Twellman

hey Shanary, take my word for it, if I hear the Army singing that Sunday, I'll join in.

I think an awesome lead in to it would be ..."we're the army, the army, the army, over here" - then just burst right into it.

    New England belongs to me!

    Love that tune!!

Good luck with "New England belongs to me" I remember trying that years ago, can't remember what lyrics we were singing anymore, wish I was there to help.

If I had stayed in town this season, I wanted to try this:

    "England" Angelic Upstarts
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqShXo7H-XE"]YouTube - England, Oh England[/ame]

I like the live verstion better because it has "Woes", admit it every songs better with 'em.
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LiJPa196gF0"]YouTube - angelic upstarts - england[/ame]

The red in the flag is the blood that was spilt
In the way that your forefathers tell
And never a country been so great
The stories New England could tell

I never want to live my life
    Away from the golden shores
There's never a country in the world
With the scent of a Boston rose

New England, New England, a country so great
The land of so fair and so true
There'll never be any colors like
The red, the white and the blue

Whenever you go to the far off fields
There's something that goes with you
The pride and the joy and the love that comes
from the wearing of red, white and blue

You could never be born under a flag that's like
    The one New England Jack
our winning spirit has never died
    It all keeps coming back

I'm still not quite comfortable with a couple of lines (Boston rose, New England Jack, for example).
Yes this would be a Herculean effort, it took ten years for "From the Halls" to get where it is.
Are you guys still doing Mama Mama in my absence?

    Thanks,
    Beau

Has The Entertainer ever been attempted? We would insert 'Go Revs!' twice during the last part. Something like... ...Woah-oh-oh-oh GO REVS!...woah-oh-oh-oh GO REVS!...woah-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-ohhhhhhhhhhhh. I first heard this chant watching a Japan WC qualifier and I guess it's big in the J-League and some Euro leagues as well: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQb6T13UXIg"]YouTube - Chant of OMIYA ARDIJA "Entertainer"[/ame]

We need a queue to start it though - hard to do unaccompanied probably. It would be a great goal song - the Fort breaks into it after the goal celebration. Thoughts?

[this may be a repeat. I haven't read the whole post]
A Bosstones song that's good for kick off with a simple beat:

A REASON TO TOAST (Medium Rare CD)

I'd like to open up by making a suggestion,
One that I suggest you open too,
And then I'll open up the floor and take a question,
After that it's time to tilt a few to you and you and you,

    A reason to toast,
    A reason to cheer,
    A reason to celebrate,
    It's nice being here,

You might be wondering just why I called this meeting
    Can't let another moment pass
Before we move on please let's rearrange the seating
After that its time to raise a glass

I'll raise my glass up high to all the friendly faces,
Here and wherever they may be,
I don't know why I never thought till now to say this,
But you mean the world to me,

    A reason to toast,
    A reason to cheer
    A reason to celebrate,
    It's nice being here,

Let's raise a glass up high because we're here together
    What better reason could exist?
    Hey! Let's!
Let's raise a glass what could be better than this?
If! You're! Without a glass then let's see your fist
    Get 'em up there boys!

    A reason to toast,
    A reason to cheer
    A reason to celebrate,
    It's nice being here

What about a professionally recorded version of "From the halls of Foxboro Stadium" before kick off instead of constantly having Bush or some other generic piece of hard rock blasted in our f#$%ing ears? Just substitute a few choice words (we're the "famous" Revolution, we're "singing" in the parking lot) and get it done in a manner similar to most other football clubs.
