Someone in Hamburg needs to print this and post it on Son Heungmin's locker. He has absolutely no clue what he should be doing when the ball isn't at his feet. He makes everything so tough for his teammates.
I guess the smarts are still at basel? Also arneson blows. Spending all the money last year on a a CM who didn't play at all, this year on a backup striker...
Marketing. Marketing. Marketing. This is it! A lot of hype around him. He's so famous in South Korea even though he has done nothing in his career. I don't think this is serving him well. He was better 2 years ago, more exciting. It's getting form bad to worse for him. He has to develop, not a 'bundesliga' proven yet. I do think a loan to a less 'messy club' i.e 2.Bundeslig team will be the better for his career. In Hamburg he think he's already a star because he's treated like that for Marketing reasons.
He looks like a wreck. Injuries have contributed. But I agree that he thinks he's a star already for some bloody reason. His attitude and approach to pre-season while at the ridiculous peace cup was disappointing. All the more reason why his peers succeeded in London and earned their military exemption while he failed to even make it into the Olympic squad. If HSV are reluctant to send him out on loan b/c (1) their squad is terrible and (2) he's a marketing asset, then Fink at least needs to drop him for the time being and challenge him to improve. In the long run, if he continues to stagnate like this, he's going to be worthless marketing-wise and will end up being an afterthought in a few years.
while SHM is partially to blame so is Hamburg who are not one of the better clubs for player development. he also has the disadvantage of having gone to dongbuk hs which while it has notable classes doesnt consistently pump out prospects (which is why fc seoul are switching to a different hs). also i think its safe to say we are more disappointed cause of his perceived potential. our expectations got a little too high and hamburg went down the crapper which hasnt helped. changing managers and all that
Guardian article on Hamburg. The headline is terrible: Hamburger begin new Bundesliga season without any relish
http://www.goal.com/en-ie/news/3908...n-to-miss-london-olympics-to-focus-on-hamburg I thought he chose to not go..
nah he didnt impress HMB when he played vs Spain which kinda killed his dream if he did choose club over country then well...
It was reported that way in all the hamburg press. I imagine he might have been the last guy off the bench option if he had any chance whatsoever. Given the way he's been playing, it might have just been spin for local press.
Kicker originally reported that he chose to withdraw from Olympic selection. He went on record to dispute this and said he wasn't selected by HMB.
Well, his life may get more difficult with VdV still being rumored... apparently personal terms agreed though spurs want a ton of money for him.
