My dad was at yonsei while CBK was at Korea Univ. He said that when CBK was on the field, it was like everyone else on the field was a person, and he alone was a horse running around.
FWIW: http://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/comments/1g9hx6/bayer_leverkusen_sign_heungmin_son/ Lots of positive comments. Also, as was mentioned before, thank you to Football Master for the regular and informed input!
I remember a couple of years ago when it seemed like Japan had so many rising stars in Europe while we were still praying that PCY would make the Arsenal bench. Our presence in Europe is quite strong now. Hope it translates to KNT success in the long run.
ultimately is to win and hoist the world cup trophy and putting up a star on your national football emblem. foreseeable future looks like Korea and Japan will be the driving force of Asian football in the world. We're in situation now that us Korea and Japan will in the world cup everytime. let's build on it.
Winning a World Cup would be a dream come true, but not winning it wouldn't be a sign of failure. Not when countries like the Netherlands and Portugal still haven't won one. I think proper respect is ultimately what I want. No more baseless assumptions of our players being shirt-sellers. No more ignorant commentators mixing up names and assuming that our biggest player is 170 cm tall and weighs 130 lbs. No more condescending platitudes about "Asian work ethic" and such.
I still remember hearing about Son after his rocket goal against Nigeria in one of the youth World Cups. Such a long way to come in such a short time. With more talent developing at other top-flight clubs and even more in the pipeline our future looks bright; all we need is the proper coach to unlock it for us.
