Garber consults the teams. DC WANTED to play. Hans didnt. IF hans wanted to play, then might have there been a chance they would have played?

Not to derail the thread, but we have several state of the art facilities with owners that could install heaters under the turf.

Obviously no point with our current schedule, but mechanically MLS could play soccer until Xmas like Germany if they prepared propperly

The hour of people shoveling snow was the best pregame show for the Houston-SKC game. NBCSN should win a sports emmy for best pregame show.

Does Red Bull Arena have a underground heating system for the field? I helped build Rio Tinto, and we installed a series of heating tubes to help thaw the ground and melt snow if needed. We've seen that the system only works to a certain point (see the USWNT v Mexico game a year or so ago), but it helps. Just wondering if the architect of RBA had the forethought to install one, or if it was one of the items eliminated during the project budgeting exercises.

*Yes, I know the system wouldn't have helped last night. I was just curious if anyone knew if one was installed.

    Question Roonster

If the shoe was on the other foot and DC was the culprit, would you be saying the same thing?

Does it heat the field to keep it above freezing temp or just ensure that the field in not hard like concrete, because if it was the first one, the snow should have been more easy to remove and less likely to cause major accumulation

It would still be the leagues fault. They would have made Hans play if they wanted to.

what was also amateurish to me was that they were clearing the field with 6 randon people...would have expected an official crew of 20 or so to do that...

Dammit, I should have e-mailed Garber and told him that temperatures in San Jose were going to plunge nearly 30 degrees from Tuesday to Wednesday. Maybe he could have postponed that disaster.:D

After the long bus ride, I'm pretty sure that the traveling DC supporters would have gone out there with sandbox shovels and helped out. It doesn't matter if/which team(s) wanted to play--that field was a total mess. Unless they were going to bring in more people/equipment, that game wasn't going to take place for at least another hour or two.
Damn, what a clusterf**k of decision-making on the league's part.

As a matter of fact both us and our FO asked, they refused it (since they didn't really want to play anyway hehe)
