I was hoping to get an understanding of WHY he hasn't been with the Nats. Is it Bruce, his club coach or what? Someone please enlighten me. I've been wanting to see him play. I only saw one of the Olympic matches in 2000, and I wonder that the situation is for him. If this is commonly talked about on this board and I've missed it, please forgive me. Thanks all. E Diddy
I don't have any insights on Casey, but let me just say, kudos on the nic choice, E Diddy. Cracked me the F up. Not really sure why...
He's an important player for his current club team, so they didn't release him for the recent Olympic qualifiers. He was called in to camp for the recent game in Amsterdam, as that game was on a FIFA-approved friendly date. He's been called into camp before, and no doubt will be again. Hopefully he'll get a camp or two this summer for the first round of WC qualifiers.
we have so many european based players that Bruce could get them together almost weekly if he choose to, there is no more excuse now for not having the nat team better prepared away from home, especialy in Europe where the next WC will be.
Everyone else is too nice. The answer is that your statement is inaccurate. He has been with the Nats several times, most recently last month for the Holland game. If you are really concerned about why he has not been capped, the answer is that in the few times he has been available and in camp, Arena didn't think putting him in the game was the best use of that resource. Since I have not seen Casey play in 18 months I don't know if Arena is right on this point. I suspect Casey will be in the Poland camp and get into the game in the second half.
Hey, Martin, for some reason I can't get into SAG anymore... the current draft going on over there is great....
Re: Re: Some insight needed on Conor Casey's situation Well, I do appreciate your candor. I'm in the same boat as you, in that I haven't seen him play in the recent past. That's all I was trying to find out, whether he has improved, but the timing hasn't been right, or if the concensus was that his form isn't at the level it needs to be when he has been called in. E Diddy
Pretty long camera shot of him on the bench during Holland match. I agree with Martin--almost certainly appears in second half of Poland match.
You mean the 22 year old scoring goals in the 2nd Bundesliga? McBride was a senior at SLU as a 22 yr old..
This is the kind of post that doesn't offer anything. Tytomkiel just cost me 30 seconds of my life. Akin to being stuck at an "L" station behind three really fat ladies who can't fit through the turnstile. I don't appreciate either.
If it took you 30 seconds to read that one sentence, it doesn't speak too well to the elementary school you attended.
name one thing hes done for US Soccer...he plays in Germany is what most people argue, but Mike Duhaney played there as well...just because you play overseas doesnt mean your a good player....the reason I say this is because Ive seen him play several times. Hes always lost and hes not the strong for his size. During the U20's championship he played in he was garbage...Brad Davis made him look like nothing... but if he proves me wrong great, It would be nice to have another reliable forward but right now he sucks Thank you
You forgot to add: "... my precioussssss..." Now you're up to 45 seconds (tennis elbow makes typing a challenge). Pretty soon I'll have to charge you interest.
Well Duhaney didn't really play much at all. Conor Casey when healthy is a starter on his club team, he is also their leading goal-scorer. That same club is climing the Bundesliga 2 table and is challenging for a shot at promotion. At 22 he is one of the best young forward prospects in Germany. You clearly are going on past dated information. Makes no difference to me; but your statements are clearly wrong. That is why you are being given a chance to retract your statements. If not now perhaps in 2006 when he is the starting center forward on the US National team at the World Cup.
Re: Re: Some insight needed on Conor Casey's situation Casey's odds of getting called in for Haiti increased today, should his team permit him to fly across the pond and miss some portion of their training this week, and of course if Bruce wants to see him before the Poland game.
