Dr. Socrates one of the top 100 of all the times, died today. Great player of Brasil 82 and Corinthians is no longer between us, on the last few months he was suffering from problems on his liver. Socrates also played for Fiorentina, Flamengo and Santos. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnoz4NuYMU8&feature=related"]Brazil 1982 - A tribute to the art of football - YouTube[/ame]
That really ruins my day... Unexpteced .... I knew he had some problems with his liver months ago, but I thought it got better. Rest in Peace Dr. Socrates - way too early for one of the finest and most graceful players the world has ever seen!
A few days ago, I went to see a dentist. I suddenly thought of Socrates. "How did a soccer player become a dentist? I just did not think a professional soccer player would have the time to go through dental school?," I thought to myself. "Is he really a dentist?". Socrates was on my mind throughout this weekend!
Correct me if I'm wrong but, Excape Goat, I believe he was a physician (gratuating at 24 or 25, while playing professionally), specialized in sports, and had nothing to do with dental medicine. nitpicking aside... as schwuppe said...
RIP. Very sad. The '82 World Cup was the first one I ever really paid attention to, and Socrates was fantastic for that team.
Oh wow, I didn't even know Socrates was sick. For me too the 1982 WC was the first I watched, enthralled by that unforgettable Brazilian midfield. He was one of my childhood idols, a sad day for soccer RIP the doctor.
