Malkin the best player on the ice in the first, Russia looked a bit livelier.

Is it just me, or are these Olympics finally offering proof that Slovakia is not a major hockey power anymore?

It's unfortunate, I always sympathized with them because they were an underdog but still very good and skillful.

They are lead by some horrid coaching but nhl draft results would show why the Czechs and Slovaks are struggling.

NHL draft results are not very good indicators. Just see how few Russians are drafted these days.

Russian players are drafted later than they should be. Czech players are rarely drafted because they aren't good.

Combined Czechoslovakia would have been MONSTEROUS in the late 90's, Jesus Christ the depth and skill that team would have had. Communist developed generation is coming to an end now and it looks like the end. :(

Very strong showing for a small country like Belarus, 5 medals so far (4 golds).

Funny thing all of Belarus's gold medal winners are naturalized. Domracheva is a naturalized Russian, and Kushnir and Tsuper are both naturalized Ukrainians.

But then again so does Russia. One of the Bobsleigh pair gold medal winners is from Chernihiv. Volosozhar who won the Gold in pairs competed for Ukraine before. The 1000m silver medalist Grigorev is a naturalized Ukrainian from Sumy, and the gold medalist in the same event is a naturalized Korean. And the funny thing is they made the Korean take a different first name (Viktor) so his name sounds more Russian lol.

Ukraine has to thank our Yanukovich appointed Minister of Sport - Safiulin for bringing us amazing results at these Olympics lol

It is unfortunate that today, Ukrainian athletes are actually migrating to Belarus for better training and competitive advantages

Well I don't know if I would call it "unfortunate". This isn't about "fortune", our athletes are not well funded by the government and have to practice in crappy conditions, which is why we lose them to other countries. Thank our Olympic Committee and Ministry of Sport instead.

Russia's losing this game guys. They're on fresher legs and we won't be able to carry the puck past their trap. :(

2-1 Finland after one. Russia is getting battered on the faceoffs, good Lord. 13-9 shot advantage for Russia but the Finns are looking more dangerous, they're skimming the Russian defenders and absolutely dominating the faceoff circle.

    Canada GOLD BABY!!! :D
    3-0 against the Swedes.
Finland committed international rape against USA yesterday too.

We win our 9th Men's Gold Medal in Olympic Hockey History and statistically prove our hockey supremacy in the history of the Winter Olympics. (USSR and Unified have 8). Also we tie Sweden for total medals in men's hockey at 21.

Also in the 5 Olympic games where NHL players have been allowed to play since 1998, we have won the Gold Medal in 3 of them.

    Maple Leaf Forever small sons.
