For local sushi places, you might want to try Miya's in New Haven. Most of the dishes are more unusual/creative (i.e. a chicken teriyaki roll, or a roll using potato skins instead of rice & seaweed). Tends to be a little pricier, but well worth it if you're looking for something a little different.
man, you had a great monday. the f1 race with a knowledgable fan and a liquid lunch, and then great sushi at night. damn. i was meaning to try that out. i drove by a place called sakura in westport that caught my eye (mainly cause it was the name of my favorite place in indy) but i think wasabi chi has moved ahead in the taste test list now.
Sakura is a good hibachi place, I can't say I've tried their sushi. At least in my experience around here tho, if a Japanese restaurant has hibachi AND sushi, their sushi isn't as good. Don't know why, but that's what I've found. Another decent hibachi place is Fuji in Darien, it's off the post road, behind Trader Joes.
For anyone who's interested, Ron Jeremy, aka The Hedgehog, will be at the Thirsty Turtle in Stamford this Friday and at the one in White Plains on Saturday.
So here is a strange if anyone still pays attention to this thread... Is there any decent churches in all of Fairfield County. I have been here close to 2 months now, and haven't the slightest idea where to find one. One with at least a medium sized group of 20-30 somethings. Any ideas?
http://www.bridgeportdiocese.com/ Connecticut is one of the few states with a Catholic majority. But I'm sure there's plenty of others around also. Speaking of church, a protestant church (UCC) is having their convention right now in downtown Hartford. Barack Obama is downtown right now. It took me a half hour to order a coffee an hour ago, atypical for a Saturday to say the least. I know nothing about this church, but apparently they have quite a following. People are everywhere.
What is interesting about their convention is it is at the Civic Center, not the new Convention Center. The Church refused to cross picket lines at the Convention Center. Good for them.
All is quiet downtown. Obama must be in the HCC speaking. There's so many friendly midwesterners in town today walking slowly and smiling. Pretty obvious they aren't natives.
I've been to St. Mary's and one other one in Norwalk, but it wasn't working for me. Any ideas which of those would have a younger vibe?
I think my mom kinda digs the fact that my confirmation mass was said by the current head of the church in the US.
