Re: KCW Juniors Update The team is announcing their second home grown player tomorrow. Anyone wanna put money on it NOT being Kevin Ellis?
Re: KCW Juniors Update Yeah it's gotta be him. Met Kevin at the Comets game, seems like he's excited, and I've heard good things about his game.
Re: KCW Juniors Update http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/article/fc-dallas-academy-host-weekend-tournament The Juniors 16's and 18's are in Dallas to play some Mexican teams. Word is the 18's are level with Monterrey right now 1-1.

Sporting KC Academy The U18 Academy team was named the team of the week for the Midwest Conference. Judging by their play of late, hopefully they can develop into some nice pros and get them out of the cellar - U18 Academy Recap

Re: Sporting KC Academy http://m.examiner.net/indexaminer/d...64&detailindex=1&pn=1&ps=10&full=true#display Probably the best place for this cause we have a few Juniors at Rockhurst, which is likely the favorite again to make state from the KC area.
Welcome to the Hurricane, or maybe they should welcome us...? From this morning's Full 90, Im sure most of you have looked at it. http://www.kansascity.com/2012/02/02/3407354/sporting-kansas-city-juniors-add.html "According to MLS rules, 'a club may sign a player to his first professional contract without subjecting him to the MLS SuperDraft if the player has trained for at least one year in the club's youth development program.'" (emphasis mine). MLS development academy rules still confuse the crap out of me, but Im getting there. I think this is a good bit of business for SKC. I know we've discussed before. My thinking is that this keeps other clubs, say Dallas, from poaching what is effectively now a part of our youth development program which is great, but I also have a hard time seeing that simply signing up a big youth club, doing one or two coaches clinics, and putting a patch on their youth kit makes them your product. I guess it must give us first rights or something like that?
I'm a ref down here in Tulsa. Lots of good players. TU has a great college program. Excited to see TSC Hurricane getting hooked up with SKC. Can't wait to see how this progresses down here.
So national signing day was a week or so ago. Here's the Sporting KC Juniors I've found with a few links. http://web.socceramerica.com/article/45543/transfers-former-us-u-17-keeper-highlight-class.html http://thejuniorway.blogspot.com/2012/02/hare-schrick-sign-national-letters-of.html http://espn.go.com/blog/high-school...728/sporting-kc-midfielder-pledges-to-colgate http://thejuniorway.blogspot.com/2012/01/dejulio-chooses-creighton.html http://espn.go.com/high-school/boys...gh-school-boys-soccer-ncaa-verbal-commitments Evansville - Nate Oppermann Loyola, IL - Daniel Hare St. Louis - Evan Wright SMU - Derek Shrick Creighton - Eric De Julio Colgate - Taylor Walter Bradley - Andrew Brown Dayton - Andrew Lightner Rhode Island - David Isaacks
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs.../10/gIQAPaX64Q_blog.html?wprss=soccer-insider The Juniors are moving to a 10 month schedule, no more high school ball for kids on academy teams. Will be interesting to see if teams lose any players because of it.

http://www.sportingkc.com/news/2012/05/sporting-kc-adds-tommy-howe-academy-coaching-staff Changes to the Juniors system. Former Wizard, Paul Rideout, and Dustin Ottesen are out, in comes Tommy Howe, who used to coach Scott Gallagher, Metro, and Woodson City Rangers. USSF A license, and played in the old NASL.
I am really excited about this. As much as I hate Scott Gallagher, I fully respect their program and player development, and to get a person who help create the program is really cool. I think the youngest ages need the best coaches, and that resume is stocked with good local YOUTH development.
So John is taking over both the U-16 & U-18? That is a lot for one coach, but at least it would be playing the same style over the 2 teams.
