Well, a whole new silly thread had to be created, if only for this news: Johanna Frisk has signed a 2 year deal with Tyresö and will be joining the team from January.
And Linköping have confirmed that Jessica Landström will be leaving and going to Sky Blue. Linköping are already looking for alternatives, but also hope that Josefine Öqvist will be ready for play next season.
Ack, stop, stop! There has hardly been time to digest all the news from Linköping, and now this! But you know, I believe Tyresö is in fact a suburb somewhere south of LA. See that suffix "sö"? That means "south." QED.
From another thread, r.e. Sky Blue's recent acquisition "from Europe": Oh, silly, Sweden isn't part of Europe. Just find a Swede and ask.
Has anyone explained to Landström that when they call it "The Garden State" they don't mean it? If only she knew someone who could explain "media awareness" to her. And Seger goes to... oh right, to Philadelphia, the city where they purportedly have no potatoes. Oops! Mama Seger will be very disappointed.
And I can't say that I blame Frisk. It's one thing if she were getting playing time at all, quite another if she's parked on the bench all season.
What the hell do eastern Pennsylvanians eat with their cheese steaks?!?! I'd go insane without fries.
Beamed from wps, for no good reason I guess nononono NO NO! What on earth does she want to do that for? Stop her, someone, for her own good! Does Linköping even want to try to be competitive next year??
Right, hell HAS frozen over! Therese Brogårde has signed for Hammarby . I don't know whether to snort scornfully in jocasta's direction, or be horrified that there are no rats left to even try to torch Djurgården's sunken ship.
Moved to the right thread... Tell me - Kristianstad, are they fun to watch? Apparently they may be on the list for the indoors tournament in Jöllenbeck in January, together with Potsdam, Duisburg, Bad Neuenahr, Herford*, Br øndby, Hj ørring and an hitherto undisclosed 8th club. *We recall: This was the tournament where Kerstin Stegemann twisted her knee while unpacking her bag last year. But Brogårde leaving Djurgården too? I know what you think of her, but at least she used to help them make up a full team...
I think I had once predicted this new wave of émigrés, but that's not important now. Had I known the issue was potatoes, and not pancakes, I would have long ago made the obvious point to Caroline Seger, et al: there is GOLD in these hills! Yukon gold, that is. Need I say more?
Umeå are holding a casting session this weekend: Finnish international midfielder Anna Westerlund Finnish keepers Noora Matikainen and Josefine Halvarsson Stattena forward Hanna Pettersson Hungarian U17 international defenders Kata Jakab and Anita Pinczi Nicole Gentle from Arsenal's academy Who? And Asllani won't be missed that much in Linköping, says their club president. She did score against Duisburg, he says, but most of her league goals were scored against weaker candidates. "I think the media will miss her more than the coaches", he is quoted as saying.
Line Roddik Hansen from Brøndby to Tyresö. Frauenfussball Schweden reports that she'll be playing her first match for her new club against Djurgården in April. I guess that means that Djurgården are indeed assuming that they'll be able to field a team next season? If you look at this season's roster... Linda Sällström, Rebecca Johnson, Anna-Kaisa Rantanen, Therese Brogårde, Marijke Callebaut, Matilda Rosqvist, Alexandra Höglund, Anders Johansson (tränare), Gudrun Gunnarsdottir Linda Blom, Ann-Marie Norlin, Gudbjörg Gunnarsdottir, Sofia Åhman, Caroline Frånberg, Linda Fagerström Malin Engdahl, Sara Thunebro, Jennifer Meier, Victoria Svensson, Freja Hellenberg Have I missed someone? Have we heard of anyone actually joining Djurgården (apart from the new coach, whose proclaimed goal it is to keep the team in Damallsvenskan)?
Also moved to the right thread! Well, no Swedish team is likely to be very fun to watch in January. But they did experience quite a resurgence in the second half of Damallsvenskan this year, finishing a solid tenth (so, clearly better than the relegates) and you will have fun practicing the name "Kristianstad." Ask one of the Danes, they'll pronounce it just as well. Let's at least see out the year with our original dance partners, only because there's no time for properly heartfelt recriminations just now. (Do you honestly believe I am going to stick with Hammarby next year?) That last point is entirely debatable. I put it to you that some players can be an energy drain, a karmic vampire, and that these players should count as a negative.
Has Sällström officially extended? Because I'm thinking she'd be going somewhere else next season if she had the legal opportunity to do so. Which leaves me with Ann-Marie Norlin. Never thought she'd end up being the best of the bunch . But there's something about a spirited "Hold onto the ********ing ball!" that endears a woman to me.
Did someone really just call her "a Finn-isher"? Oh yes they did! May be of interest to Kalmari fans—I remember there being some around—and one might especially notice that not until the last sentence of the appropriate paragraph is it grudgingly admitted that she "spent a season with Djurgården." Was it that bad, even then? When did the standard Djurgården first-day-in-the-locker-room greeting change to "What are you in for?"?
I have a pretty good knowledge on the girls who are there and I have never heard of her. I can even say where they were clubbing this week-end lol and most of them were there.
