The scene in the doctor's office absolutely destroyed me -- maybe it was just late and I was tired, I dunno, but Andy Daly's delivery of those lines about the guy shooting himself threw me into convulsions. And there was something quietly genius about that end scene where Kumail Nanjani was tossing that stupid ball and everybody was chanting "Always Blue! ... Always Blue!..." I'm not sure how you write something like that that so perfectly captures a camaraderie, a moment, a sub-culture. Looking forward to more.
Also, I'm still hoping that Zach Woods being cast in this show doesn't preclude him from continuing in Veep. (NSFW)
So my wife and I both lost it when Erlich slapped the kid. "Which one was it? I bet it was church van"
I was rolling when Jared couldn't get away from the robots. I feel like that's a real thing in about 50 years.
I think you are right! Zach Wood is hysterical. I've liked him in every show that he's been in, well, at least the ones that I watch that he has been in.
I've been loving this show so far. Unfortunately, I just found out that Christopher Evan Welch (Peter Gregory) died of lung cancer in December.
Wow. I had missed that. That's a loss. Was he a military brat? Everything lists his home as Ft. Belvoir.
I wondered the same thing myself, since I'm an Army brat. My HS girlfriend (when I lived in the Fayetteville/Ft. Bragg area) used to to talk about Ft. Belvoir as if it was, like, soooo cool. And it really is a loss. (Speaking just about the show and not about the wife and child he left behind) He was fantastic in that role. My wife is a special ed teacher and really liked the Asbergers vibe he gave off.
I'm from the area (not on base). I've never heard anyone describe it as anything like that. I've also never seen anyone list that as where they were from over Alexandria or Fairfax County so I made the assumption he actually lived on base. It's a huge base that's being boosted even more by BRAC recently. The only thing I ever remember kids bragging about growing up was the PX, while adults were more likely to talk golf or the Officers' Club.
